Five of Maui’s cowboys and cowgirls earned a spot on the National Rodeo Team, after securing six championship buckles at the Hawaiʻi High School Rodeo Association State Finals held at the Parker Ranch Arena in Waimea on Hawaiʻi Island earlier this month.

Maui’s Nā Pua Kō girls fast-pitch softball team from Maui took home the All Star Tournaments 12-and-Under Silver Division title at the Champions 2014 USSSA PRIDE Tournament held over the weekend in Sacramento, California.

Alexandra Pardico of Maui High School and Xrystina Bicoy of Molokaʻi High were among a list of only five students that were honored as distinguished scholarship recipients. Maui High School Student Trent Hori rounded out the list of students recognized during the ceremony as a recipient of a Maui Interscholastic League Scholarship.

Maui’s Nā Pua Kō girls fast-pitch softball team from Maui took home the state title over the weekend during the Amateur Softball Association Hawaiʻi State 12 and Under Championships held on Oʻahu.

“They ended up with 21 that either signed letters of intent or some sort of agreement to play and receive some kind of aid to play and go to school in the fall. It seemed like a pretty astonishing number, since the class size is only 120.”

The pressure was off this week and it showed in the results of the Kamakea Memorial Track & Field Championships.

Baldwin High School swept the Maui Interscholastic League Junior Varsity Track & Field Championships Friday at the Yamamoto Track & Field Facility.

The Baldwin High School baseball team extended its win streak to seven Wednesday, thanks to a solid pitching performance from Noah Apolo and the timely hitting of Skyelor Ishikawa.

The King Kekaulike High School football team will be hosting its first “Kekaulike Football Golf Tournament” on Saturday, June 7, at the Pukalani Country Club.

The Maui Big Boyz Football League is much bigger now that it’s four-years old. In fact, the league introduced its little brother Saturday at the Kulamalu Field in Upcountry.

The Maui High School baseball team improved to 3-0 in the Maui Interscholastic League Division I standings Wednesday, shutting out Kamehameha Schools Maui in five innings, 11-0.

Four members of the Seabury Hall girls track team — Dakota Grossman, Alyssa Bettendorf, Christy Fell and Kiana Smith — spent part of their spring break in San Diego, Calif., at the Mt. Carmel Invitational Track & Field Championships.
