Maui police are investigating a report of an early morning burglary and sex assault at a Haʻikū home reported two weeks ago. Officers responded to the residence at approximately 4:08 a.m. on Monday, July 28, 2025 after receiving a report of an unknown male entering the home without permission.

Emergency siren installation work to close lanes on Honoapiʻilani Highway near Kapalua Airport

A portion of Honoapiʻilani Highway (Route 30) at the intersection with Akahele Street will be closed from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., on Thursday, Aug. 21 for the installation of an emergency warning siren, according to the Hawaiʻi Department of Transportation.

Hawaiʻi State Judiciary warns public about jury duty scams

By law, Hawaiʻi residents must respond to jury questionnaires. However, scammers may try to exploit this legitimate process by impersonating court officials or law enforcement officers and claiming you have an outstanding warrant for failing to appear for jury duty. Victims are then pressured to pay a “fine” immediately to avoid arrest.
