$4.7 Million Headed To Maui K-12 Schools for Extra Academic Support to Low Income Students

The funding is part of a larger $54 million appropriation for Hawai‘i K-12 schools to be used for teacher professional development, additional teachers, new technology and academic programs.

6 New COVID-19 Cases Brings Hawai‘i Total to 872

There are six new COVID-19 case reported for Hawaiʻi today–5 of them on Oʻahu, and one on Kauaʻi–pushing the statewide count to 872 cases in Hawaiʻi over the course of the pandemic. An elderly Honolulu man is the 18th death in Hawai‘i due to the coronavirus. To date, 714 people (83.6%) have recovered including 113 (97.4%) recovery in Maui County. There are currently 140 active cases in the state, including three on Maui.

$90 Million Appropriated for Hawai‘i Airport COVID-19 Screening

A facial imaging tracking system and monitoring control rooms will be installed throughout the terminal to track a suspected passenger until they are intercepted for further screening. Total cost is $18.5 million, with an additional $17.5 million for a 10-year maintenance program.

An elderly Honolulu man isthe 18th death in Hawai‘i due to the coronavirus, according to the state Department of Health. The last reported death was on May 3, making this the state’s first COVID-19 related death in one-and-a-half months.

Within the last week Maui Humane Society exhausted its supply of donated and supplemental food, by providing 2,500 pounds of pet food to pet owners in financial distress.

County of Maui Partners with Youth and Child Care Organizations
