Saturday launch of 988 dialing in Hawaiʻi for mental health & substance abuse resources
Hawaiʻi will officially adopt the national 988-dialing code for direct access to mental health and substance use crisis resources on Saturday, July 16, 2022. The new three-digit number is expected to increase access to the Hawaiʻi Department of Health’s Hawaiʻi CARES crisis helpline for crisis services, mental and emotional health support, and substance abuse recovery.
Hirono backs legislation to protect rights to cross state lines to seek abortion care
The bill clarifies that it is illegal for anti-choice states to limit travel for abortion services, and would empower the Attorney General and impacted individuals to bring civil action against those who restrict a woman’s right to cross state lines to receive legal reproductive care.
