Oct. 8, 2021 COVID-19 Update: 201 New Cases in Hawai‘i, 7 Deaths

There were 201 additional COVID-19 cases in Hawai‘i on Friday, including 19 on Maui and one on Lānaʻi. There were also seven new deaths reported today.

Maui Health Now Providing COVID-19 Booster Shots to All Eligible Individuals

The Maui Health clinic will now provide booster doses of the Pfizer vaccine to all eligible health care and other frontline workers, including teachers and hotel employees, whose occupation or workplace settings present an increased risk of infection or transmission of COVID-19.

Lava continues to erupt from two vents at the Kīlauea volcano on Hawai’i Island. One of the vents is located along the floor and one is located in the western wall of Halemaʻumaʻu crater.

Charter Commission Discussion Continues on Proposed Charter Amendments

Maui Winter/Spring 2022 Season Tri-Annual Permit Applications Due by Oct. 8

The County of Maui Department of Parks and Recreation will accept applications for Winter/Spring 2022 Tri-Annual Permits through this Friday, Oct. 8, 2021, for leagues, and recreational programs. Permit applications are for the recreational use of pools, gyms, fields, stadiums, and tennis courts during the period of Jan. 1 to April 15, 2022.
