Funds include: $5.83M for Baldwin High School athletic facility improvements; $3.026M to improve aging athletic facilities at Molokaʻi High School; $1M for campus fencing and gates at Haʻikū Elementary; and $500,000 to finance design to determine gym improvements for Lānaʻi High and Elementary School.

The County of Maui has successfully issued $60.87 million in General Obligation Bonds, Series 2022, at an average interest rate of 2.85%, Mayor Michael Victorino announced.

Baldwin High School, Maui Waena Intermediate, and Waiheʻe and Wailuku Elementary schools are included on the list of places where CIP project funding was distributed in recent months. There’s also funds for Kahului Airport runway resurfacing and improvements and roadway improvements at the Consolidated Rental Car Facility.

Specific Maui County projects in the April CIP release include: $200,000 for the Wailuku Public Library, $10,000 for the Makawao Public Library; and $1,150,000 for a Hawaiian Home Lands Lot development on Molokaʻi.

More than $273 million in capital improvement project funding has been secured for 27 projects in Maui County under the final version of the State’s Supplemental Budget.

More than $6M in CIP funding was released for Maui specific projects including: $250,000 to Hāna Health, $1,293,000 for guardrail and shoulder improvements on State Highways on Maui, $1,483,000 to Maui Community Correctional Center, and $3M for ticket lobby improvements at Kahului Airport.

Governor David Ige announced the release of $364,445,224 for Capital Improvement Projects that will be administered by various state departments. These funds were released in November and December of 2021, and January of 2022. 

Council Chair Alice L. Lee announced today that eight proposals have been introduced as the 2022 Maui County Council Legislative Package, including legislation to establish a “green fee surcharge”—a visitor fee that would fund environmental-protection and conservation projects.

A total of $532.94 million in Capital Improvement Project funds and General Obligation Bonds has been set aside for a wide assortment of projects in Fiscal Years 2020 and 2021 for their respective districts in the County of Maui.

Maui Senate Majority Leader J. Kalani English joined fellow Senator Roz Baker, Chair of the Senate Commerce & Consumer Protection Committee in a media briefing on Tuesday.  The two discussed the abbreviated session, which is designed to take care of vital legislation amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. 

Representative Angus L.K. McKelvey thanked Governor Ige for releasing $1,050,000 in additional Capital Improvement Project funds for Coastal Highway Realignment of Honoapiʻilani Highway.

Maui representatives secured more than $438 million in CIP funding for the biennium of fiscal years 2018 and 2019 for various projects in Maui County.

Maui representatives secured about $382 million in CIP funding for projects across Maui County, including funds for Maui County schools, airports and harbors.

The House approved $31.2 million for capital improvement projects for Central Maui including funds for: Kahului Elementary, Maui Waena, Kahului Airport, and Kahului Harbor.

The house budget includes $9 million for flood damage reconstruction at the ʻĪao Valley State Monument on Maui.

An estimated $38 million in general obligation bond funds is proposed for the continued construction costs for the new high school in Kīhei on Maui. The funds are part of a supplemental budget proposed by the Senate Ways and Means Committee.

The largest Transportation appropriation is $43.6 million for Hāna Highway rockfall mitigation, repairs, widening and/or realignment.

The state house today approved more than $200 million in funds for renovations at the Maui Community Correctional Center in Wailuku, according to an announcement from the Hawaiʻi House of Representatives.

The budget has already been submitted to the State Legislature for review and includes a $25.77 billion operating budget over two years. The financing represents and increase of 4% in 2015-2016 and an 8.2% increase in 2016-2017 over current levels.

The funding release includes $1.25 million to finance improvements to wastewater systems at Camp Paumalu on Oʻahu, Camp Piʻiholo on Maui, and Camp Kilohana on Hawaiʻi Island.
