Missing is Jared Willeford, 42, who was seen launching a yellow kayak at approximately 8 a.m. on Sunday offshore from Keauhou on Hawaiʻi Island.

The Coast Guard medevaced an ailing man from a fishing vessel 8 miles northeast of Honokaʻa, Hawaiʻi, Monday.

The US Coast Guard completed the medevac of a 52-year-old man from Midway Atoll Thursday.  Coast Guard Joint Rescue Coordination Center Honolulu watchstanders received notification from US Fish and Wildlife personnel at 10 a.m. Tuesday that a contractor fell from a roof and injured his ankle.

The Coast Guard suspended its search at noon Wednesday for a 58-year old man who went missing while snorkeling off the coast of Kauaʻi Sunday.

Coast Guard members and good Samaritans who responded during the Aug. 8, 2023, Maui wildfires received international recognition and awards during a ceremony at the J. Walter Cameron Center in Wailuku, Friday.  Altogether, Coast Guard responders and the good Samaritans rescued 20 people and assisted approximately 40 more during the Maui wildfires. 

Coast Guard crews medevaced an ailing man from a commercial fishing vessel 480 miles offshore Honolulu on Friday.

The Coast Guard and good Samaritans rescued three men from the water approximately 2 miles south of the Daniel K. Inouye International Airport in Honolulu Monday.  Two passengers aboard the French-flagged Spirit of Pontapreta, a 42-foot sailing vessel, had reportedly been swept away while swimming near the vessel. The vessel’s operator jumped in to assist them but was also swept away. 

Coast Guard officials have confirmed that a missing mariner and his 32-foot boat, the Malulani, arrived safely in Hawaiʻi on Saturday.

The Coast Guard has concluded its response to two separate vessel grounding incidents off Maui, involving the Altego II in Lahaina on Jan. 8, and the Chaparral at Sugar Beach on Jan. 9, 2024.

“Today, our assets remain actively engaged in the search and rescue response and our responders are operating and searching as though there may still be survivors in need of assistance,” said Capt. Aja L. Kirksey, Sector Commander of Coast Guard Sector Honolulu.  

Congressman Ed Case welcomed an announcement by the United States Coast Guard that it will deploy the Harriet Lane, a 270-foot Cutter with a 100-person crew, to Hawai‘i.

The US Coast Guard federalized the vessel on Tuesday, which means the yacht cannot be moved until all fuel, batteries, and any other pollutants on board are removed. That process may involve a helicopter and is expected to take at least through Wednesday, according to a DLNR news release.

The Coast Guard has suspended the active search of East Maui Sunday for a missing aircraft and the three crew members aboard. Since Thursday evening, the USCG has searched more than 4,732 square nautical miles.

BREAKING: A Navy Boeing P-8 Poseidon aircrew reportedly located Grenz waving his hands in the air while on deck of the 42-foot sailing vessel. He was last seen departing Nāwiliwili Harbor, Kauaʻi, towards Haleʻiwa, Oʻahu, on Tuesday, Sept. 2.

The Coast Guard on Maui rescued two kayakers in distress a half mile off Māʻalaea Harbor, Thursday.

The US Coast Guard in Hawaii joined the Maui County Fire Department in rescuing an overdue Jet Ski operator two miles off of Maui, today. The individual was reported to be in stable condition, according to the USCG.

A series of trainings and exercises for oil spill response is scheduled for Aug. 3-5, 2021 at Kalaeloa Barbers Point.
