The Hawaiʻi Department of Transportation is advising motorists of intermittent closures of Hāna Highway (Route 360) at the Waikani Stream Bridge at mile post 19.5 on Thursday, Dec. 1 and Friday, Dec. 2 between 6 a.m. and 3 p.m.

The Hawaiʻi Department of Transportation notifies the public of full closures on Hāna Highway (Route 360) in both directions at the Nāʻiliʻilihāʻele Bridge (Mile Post 6.2) and Kaʻaiea Bridge (Mile Post 8.6) on Sunday night, Dec. 19, through Thursday morning, Dec. 23, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., nightly, for bridge work.

A weather disturbance near Hawaiʻi Island, and a threat of heavy rain throughout the state, has postponed planned work on the Mahalawa Bridge at Mile Marker Post 43 on Piʻilani Highway this weekend. The work is expected to be rescheduled in January of 2022.

The state Department of Transportation is working on several road projects that will result in lane closures from April 3 to 9.

The Department of Public Works will close a portion of Kaupakalua Road in Haʻikū on Jan. 16 and 23 for a road repaving project from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Hāna Highway is now OPEN. It was closed earlier this morning while crews worked to clear a downed tree that was blocking both lanes of travel.

Lane closure schedules may change at any time without further notice.  All projects are weather permitting.

The Governor has granted a two-week extension to the County of Maui to keep a checkpoint in place along the Hāna Highway between Kapakalua Road and Hāna Town.  The checkpoint will remain in place through at least July 15th, limiting traffic to residents amid ongoing health and safety concerns related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Maui Mayor Michael Victorino will send a letter to the governor this morning, requesting at least a two week extension on the Hāna Highway road closure between Kapakalua Road and Hāna Town.  

Closures slated for April 11 to April 17.

Work to improve Keʻanae Road will require full road closures from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, for about two weeks, beginning March 2.

One direction at a time of Hāna Highway will be closed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. between Monday evening, March 2 and Saturday morning, March 7. The night work will involve pavement milling and resurfacing of Hāna Highway between Kaʻahumanu Avenue and Dairy Road.

Maui motorists are advised of nightly closures on the Hāna Highway (Route 360) between Huelo and Hāna Town beginning Monday, March 9, 2020 for slope stabilization work.

One lane is open at Mile 21 of the Hāna Highway where a rockslide was reported on Saturday. A contractor for the state Department of Transportation and a Keanae crew will be out at 8 a.m. on Sunday (2/23) to rock scale. Motorists can expect delays as crews bring loose material down.

Closures slated for Feb. 8 to Feb. 14. 

Here is a list of road closures throughout the island slated for this week, Feb. 1 to Feb. 7. 

Honokalani Road will be closed at the top at its entrance off of Hāna Highway to everyone except for local traffic and residents in the area.
