For the first time ever, the University of Hawaiʻi Maui College is offering Esthetician, Nail Technician, and Lash Extension and Enhancement courses as parts of a new Beauty Operator Program.

The University of Hawaiʻi Maui College will host its Spring Open House & Night Market on Friday, May 2 from 5 to 7:30 p.m. on the Kahului campus Great Lawn and Pā‘ina Building dining area.

As part of its commitment to the revitalization of Lahaina following the August 2023 wildfires, the University of Hawaiʻi Maui College will once again provide tuition support for eligible graduates entering college this coming Fall 2025 Semester.

University of Hawaiʻi President Wendy Hensel visited UH Maui College on Monday, March 3, as part of her statewide tour of 10 UH campuses and five education centers within her first 90 days in office.

The University of Hawaiʻi Maui College’s award-winning Culinary Arts Program team has created a full roster of seven, non-credit, “just for fun” culinary classes for the public ranging from advanced cookie baking to making gnocchi and risotto and everything in between.

Funded by the Maui Strong Fund of the Hawaiʻi Community Foundation, the fellowship offers awards of up to $10,000 per year for all those who engage in critical project activities. Fellows play a vital role in addressing the challenges of post-fire recovery, sustainable development, and environmental restoration on Maui.

Maui County Council members celebrated their inauguration for the 2025-2027 term with Hawaiian oli, singing and hula this morning at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center’s Castle Theater.

The inauguration of the Maui County Council for the 2025-2027 term will be held Jan. 2 at 10 a.m. at the Maui Arts and Cultural Center’s Castle Theater.

Training in the use of mass timber will be offered in January and February and the University of Hawaiʻi Maui College for members of the Hawaiʻi Regional Council of Carpenters and its signatory contractors.

Dedicated members of Rotary Maui Fires Relief Advisory Committee, alongside Rotary D5000 District Governor Ted Faigle, visited the University of Hawai’i Maui College to see how Rotary support for student vocational training was conducted at the college’s Food Innovation Center.

The University of Hawaiʻi Professional Assembly (UHPA), which represents faculty at all 10 University of Hawai‘i campuses statewide, partnered with AFT and First Book, a nonprofit social enterprise, to give away new, award-winning books through its Reading Opens the World program.

The Kibou for Maui Project in Japan hosted a Maui leadership delegation from May 19 to 23, 2024, to facilitate an educational and strategic exchange between Maui recovery effort leaders and experts in Japan’s Tohoku region, which underwent significant rebuilding after the 2011 earthquake and tsunami.

The University of Hawaiʻi Maui College held its first commencement since the Maui wildfires on Thursday on the Great Lawn of the campus in Kahului. About 220 of 450 graduates participated in the ceremony under the theme “resilience.”

The University of Hawaiʻi Maui College will host an Open House Fair on Friday, April 26 from 5 to 7:30 p.m. on the Kahului campus Great Lawn and Pā‘ina Building dining area.

With its latest donation of $25,000, received late last month, the total donated to “Feeding Maui” by Lions Clubs Maui Region VI Zone 1 (the name of the international fund) is more than $66,000.

University of Hawaiʻi Maui College Chancellor Liu Hokoana will be the speaker at the Rotary Club of Lahaina Sunset meeting on March 5, 2024. He will share an update on UH Maui since the Lahaina wildfires.

A hui of Hawaiian organizations led by the University of Hawaiʻi Maui College, Kanaeokana, Kamehameha Schools Kaiāulu and others hosted Ola ka ʻĪ Maui Nui at Queen Kaʻahumanu Center on Saturday, Feb. 17. The event was the third Ola Ka ʻĪ in a series of Hawaiian language fairs happening throughout Hawaiʻi in February, Mahina ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi (Hawaiian Language Month). 

The Puʻuhonua Kauluwehi project will collaboratively establish a network of biocultural refuges supporting the cultivation of native plants to accelerate landscape-scale ecological restoration, food security, and community well-being strategies.

World Plate and Paniolo Grill are now open for lunch and welcoming back the campus community and the Maui community at large to Pā‘ina Market.

Enrollment at UH Maui College is up 7.5% over Fall 2022.
