Local chefs took home the awards, but the real winner at this year’s Grand Taste at Maui AgFest & 4-H Livestock Fair was the local Maui culinary scene. With a sell-out crowd, enthusiastic judges and talented participants, Grand Taste illustrated yet again the high level of excellence created by local chefs paired with local ingredients.

Maui County Farm Bureau launched this year’s Maui AgFest & 4-H Livestock Fair by naming Dr. Harold Keyser as this year’s Maui Legacy Farmer. The 17th edition of the event took place on May 30 at the War Memorial Special Events Field.

Maui chefs know the secret to any winning recipe: start by using only island-grown produce and fresh local meat and fish. Building on this tried-and-true standard, 12 Maui chefs will create 12 original recipes and compete for top honors in Grand Taste at Maui AgFest on Saturday, May 30.

All the different components of Maui agriculture will come together on Saturday, May 30, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at War Memorial Special Events Field in Wailuku, as Maui County Farm Bureau (MCFB) and Maui 4-H Livestock Association hosts its 17th Maui AgFest & 4-H Livestock Fair.

This year’s Maui AgFest & 4-H Livestock Fair was a community affair that not only celebrated the agricultural industry, but benefited many other industries on Maui as well. From the local business suppliers who equipped the event, to the nonprofit beneficiaries who provided labor, to the farmers and vendors who sold their goods, Maui County Farm Bureau (MCFB)’s 16th signature event was a successful team effort with blockbuster attendance of more than 7,500.

Mahi Pono is bringing fresh flavors and big news to this year’s Maui AgFest with the debut of its new Maui-grown coffee, produced in collaboration with Hawaiʻi’s iconic Lion Coffee, and the official launch of its popular summer watermelon season. Both will be featured at the festival this Saturday, May 31, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the War Memorial Complex in Wailuku.

Bayer Hawaiʻi, in partnership with Sharing the Butterfly Experience, will be giving away 30 Monarch Butterfly Kits at the 2025 Maui AgFest & 4-H Livestock Fair on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at the War Memorial Complex in Wailuku.

The Maui County Farm Bureau celebrates the contributions of Maui County farmers and ranchers at the upcoming Maui Legacy Farmers Pancake Breakfast, a tradition since 2016. Sponsored by Fairmont Kea Lani, this year’s breakfast pays tribute to 2025 honorees Wesley Nohara and Richard “Dickie” Boteilho.

Maui AgFest & 4-H Livestock Fair celebrates 16 years of agricultural education and celebration with its return to War Memorial Complex on Saturday, May 31, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The Maui AgFest & 4-H Livestock Fair takes place today, Saturday, June 1, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at War Memorial Special Events Field.  This year at AgFest, Maui County Farm Bureau (MCFB) honors the legacy of “Chinese in Agriculture on Maui.” The Wo Hing Society presents this free special exhibit from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., outlining the history and lasting impact of Chinese immigrants and settlers. The Wo Hing Society Hall stood in historic Lahaina Town as a symbol of Chinese culture for more than a century before it was destroyed in the fires.

The War Memorial Complex tennis courts and Coach Soichi Sakamoto Swimming Pool will be closed on Saturday, June 1, for the Maui AgFest & 4-H Livestock Fair being held at the complex.

If you stop by the Haleakalā Creamery booth at Maui AgFest next weekend, don’t be startled if you’re greeted by a goat. Rebecca Woodburn-Rist, owner of Maui’s “Farm to Spoon” goat dairy, will be selling her delicious goat milk caramel sauces and “Goatlato” ice cream with a little help from the herd.

Certain War Memorial Complex facilities will close to the public on June 3 to accommodate the Maui AgFest & 4-H Livestock Fair happening on that day, the county Department of Parks and Recreation announced.
