Maui police say speed and alcohol are believed to be contributing factors in a fatal head-on crash on North Kīhei Road, Tuesday night.

A 64-year-old woman was killed in a hit-and-run collision reported in South Maui on Thursday night. A preliminary police investigation reveals that a pedestrian was on the sidewalk when an unknown vehicle executed a short radius right turn out of the parking lot located at 1881 South Kīhei Road; proceeded to drive over the curb and onto the sidewalk when it collided into and drove over the pedestrian.   The operator of the unknown vehicle did not stop or render aid to the pedestrian and fled the scene northbound on South Kīhei Road, police said.

A 68-year-old Kīhei man suffered fatal injuries following a motorcycle collision on Pūlehu Road Thursday afternoon. Police say the man was operating a black 2012 Harley-Davidson Switchback motorcycle and was traveling northwest on Pūlehu Road when he attempted to overtake a vehicle on a double solid yellow line. The motorcyclist lost control of the motorcycle upon failing to negotiate a left curve in the roadway and drove into bushes.  

A deadly motorcycle collision on the Maui Veterans Highway on Thursday morning claimed the life of a 33-year-old Kīhei man, police said. It is believed that speed is a factor in this collision, according to preliminary reports.

A 62-year-old Lahaina man suffered fatal injuries in a motor vehicle crash on the Lahaina Bypass on Tuesday morning. Police say the man was operating an electric bike and was attempting to travel east across the Lahaina Bypass at the Honoapiʻilani Highway intersection when a black 1999 Toyota Tacoma traveling southbound collided into him.

A 42-year-old woman died after being struck by a vehicle while she was crossing the Honoapiʻilani Highway in Olowalu Monday night. The incident was reported at around 7:40 p.m. on Monday, April 3, 2023, on the Honoapiʻilani Highway (30) in the area of Mile 13.9. 

As the busy graduation and summer break approaches, Maui police are reminding the public of the dangers of drinking while under the influence of drugs or alcohol, and distracted driving.

A Wailuku man suffered fatal injuries in a motorcycle crash on Maui Veterans Highway early this morning.

A 28-year-old pedestrian suffered fatal injuries after being struck by a vehicle while attempting to cross Kahului Beach Road on Sunday night, according to Maui police. The collision occurred at around 8:23 p.m. on Sunday, July 12, on Kahului Beach Road, about 0.2 miles NW of the Kaʻahumanu Avenue intersection fronting the Harbor Lights condominiums in Kahului.

Maui police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run accident involving a pedestrian reported overnight on the Honoapiʻilani Highway in West Maui.

A Maui man was arrested this week in connection with a fatal motor vehicle accident involving a pedestrian reported in the parking lot of McDonald’s on South Kīhei Road more than a year and a half ago.

The Mustang crashed through construction fencing at the old Maui Lu site, and continued out of control, rolling over and coming to rest upside down, landing 15 feet atop a pile of lumber.  A 38-year-old Wailuku man was arrested for negligent homicide, driving under the influence and excessive speeding after fleeing the scene of a fatal motor vehicle crash in Kīhei early this morning.

Maui police are on the scene of a fatal motor vehicle accident on South Kīhei Road near the old Maui Lu site.

Maui police have confirmed a fatal traffic accident occurred in the parking lot outside of Ross and the old Kahului Safeway store this evening.

Police say the motorcycle operator was pronounced dead at the scene, and have since identified the individual as Cameron Kosman, 21, of Wailuku.

The collision occurred as a 2004 Honda CR-V multi-purpose vehicle was traveling southbound on Pūlehu Road attempting to negotiate a right curve in the roadway.
