The Maui Huliau Foundation will host its annual Huliau Food & Film Festival on Aug. 29, bringing the event to Kapuakukui Farm in Kula for an evening of farm-to-table food, hula, live music and student-produced films.

Historic Wailuku Town came alive this past week as thousands of filmmakers, artists, students, industry professionals, and film lovers gathered for the inaugural Wailuku Film Festival, a five-day celebration of storytelling that transformed the heart of Maui into a vibrant hub of cinema, culture, and community.

Maui Huliau Foundation is offering a series of free professional learning opportunities this summer designed to deepen climate literacy, strengthen place-based teaching, and connect educators with the community partners leading environmental and cultural stewardship across Maui. Educators are encouraged to RSVP by June 24.

Seabury Hall will host its 50th Annual Craft Fair from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Upcountry campus.

The 21st annual Ian Walsh Menehune Mayhem youth surf contest will take place May 17–18, 2025, at Hoʻokipa Beach Park.

Hisako Film Lab, founded by Maui-raised filmmaker Destin Daniel Cretton, is partnering with Maui Huliau Foundation to offer an after-school filmmaking program available to youth in grades 9-12 from all schools.

Students, teachers, and families are invited to Lā ʻOhana (ʻOhana Day) this Saturday, Sept. 21, 2024, at Hanakaʻōʻō Beach Park (Canoe Beach) in Kāʻanapali, the Maui Huliau Foundation announced. The event will focus on Hawaiian voyaging and natural resource protection.

Maui Huliau Foundation, a nonprofit organization offering environmental education programs to Maui youth, will host its annual benefit celebration Aug. 17 at Sugar Beach Event’s oceanfront venue in Kīhei.

The 20th Annual Ian Walsh Menehune Mayhem was held May 4 and 5, 2024 at Ho’okipa Beach Park. The event, hosted by Maui surfer Ian Walsh is a nonprofit event that’s designed to hone the skills of up and coming Maui surfers, and prepare them for success on a larger scale.

Seabury Hall will host its popular Craft Fair on Saturday, May 11, 2024 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. This family-friendly event has become a cherished tradition to kick off Mother’s Day weekend. The Craft Fair transforms the school’s upcountry campus into a bustling marketplace filled with Maui’s best artists, jewelers, crafters, floral gifts, a silent auction, live music, food, and keiki activities.

The 20th Annual Ian Walsh Menehune Mayhem, a free two day surf contest for Maui’s youth ages 15 years old and younger, is taking place at Hoʻokipa Beach Park all-day Saturday and Sunday.

Maui Huliau Foundation, an environmental education nonprofit serving Maui’s youth, will host their annual Huliau Youth Environmental Film Festival at the Imua Discovery Garden in Wailuku on Saturday, May 4 from 7-8:30 p.m. This outdoor showing will feature eight short environmental films created by Maui students from various schools over the past school year.

Maui Huliau Foundation is partnering with Hisako Film Lab to offer a five day condensed filmmaking program this spring break for youth in grades 7-12 from all schools. Students will work together over the five days to create a short environmental parody of a TV commercial. The program staff will provide equipment, as well as assistance in planning, filming, and editing. No prior experience is needed, but students must be able to attend all five days to participate. 

This summer, Maui Huliau Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to promoting environmental literacy and leadership among Maui youth, is offering two 3 credit PDE3 courses for Department of Education secondary educators in Maui County. One of the PDE3 courses has a registration deadline this Friday, June 2.

The University of Hawaiʻi Maui College’s Student ʻOhana for Sustainability (SOS) club is partnering with Maui Huliau Foundation to host an expanded annual Earth Day celebration on the campus Great Lawn on Wednesday, April 26, from 3 to 6 p.m.

The Huliau Alumni Council announced the launch of the second year of their scholarship program to support and encourage undergraduate students of Maui County. The application must be submitted online by midnight on March 31, 2023.
