#Molokai fire

An estimated 2-3 acres of brush burned during an afternoon fire on Molokaʻi over the weekend. The incident was reported at 2:24 p.m. on Saturday, May 24, 2025 in an area above Kaunakakai town.

A brush fire burned 80 acres on Molokaʻi before it was fully contained at around 9:20 p.m. on Tuesday. The fire was first reported at 10:25 a.m. on Sept. 24, 2024 in the area of Naiwa St., south of the Molokaʻi Airport. Fire officials say one small shack was damaged and an abandoned vehicle burned in the fire. The value of damages has not yet been determined.

The Molokaʻi fire is approximately 60% contained at about 100 acres as of 5 p.m., according to Maui Fire Department. There are no active threats, evacuation advisories or road closures at this time, and there are no reports of injuries. MFD continues to mop up and strengthen containment lines around the fire. Acreage and containment estimates may fluctuate as assessments are made. The cause of the fire is under investigation by MFD. The public is encouraged to remain vigilant as fire conditions are subject to change. 

The Maui Fire Department responded to seven fire-related calls in the period between 7:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 4 and 7:30 a.m. on Friday, July 5. No fireworks related injuries were reported.

Maui fire crews continue to battle a brush fire on Molokaʻi that has burned 50 acres since it was first reported at 1:41 p.m. on Thursday, June 20 in the area of 40 Maunaloa Road.

A brush fire burned 3 acres in Hoʻolehua, Molokaʻi before being brought under control on Wednesday. Three homes were evacuated during the incident as a precaution.

A 10 acre brush fire in Moʻomomi on Molokaʻi came within 50 feet of a home before being brought under control on Monday afternoon.

The brush fire first reported on Sunday afternoon on Molokaʻi has since been declared 100% contained as of 10:40 a.m. on Monday morning. Acreage estimate remains the same at approximately 50 acres. Crews will continue mop up operations throughout the day.

The fire was first reported at 2:56 p.m. in the area of Puʻu Kapele Avenue.  Fire crews gained 100% containment at 5 p.m. and mop-up operations continued into the evening.

40 Acres Burned in Ho‘olehua Fire on Moloka‘i. The fire was first reported at 11:31 a.m. on Sunday, June 28, 2020 in the area of 3213 Maunaloa Highway in  Hoʻolehua.

A structure fire on Molokaʻi yesterday afternoon destroyed a storage building behind a home in Kalua Koi.

A brush fire reported near Molokaʻi’s Manawainui Bridge on Tuesday appears to have been sparked by a high voltage power line.  Maui fire officials say the line had been severed and fell to the ground.
