Kaua‘i Mayor Derek S. K. Kawakami issued an amended emergency rule that will end the Resort Bubble program and move the County to Tier 5 on Thursday, July 8. That’s the same day that the state plans to ease travel and gathering guidelines as the vaccination rate nears 60%.

County officials say the new 30 percent occupancy limit for all retail business can be determined by taking the total interior footage, dividing it by 36 square feet (that’s a six foot buffer per person), and multiplying that by 30 percent.

Governor Ige today announced that beginning in mid-December, travelers flying from Canada to Hawaiʻi may bypass the state’s mandatory 14-day quarantine if they take a COVID-19 test from labs identified by Air Canada and WestJet.

Members of the Hawai‘i State Senate Special Committee on COVID-19 sent a letter to Governor David Ige calling for neighbor island counties to serve as Pilot Program testing sites for exclusive travel between neighbor island counties.  

Gov. David Ige held a news briefing Thursday, to address the recent COVID-19-related deaths and record number of cases reported by DOH. There were a total of 355 newly diagnosed cases on Thursday, a record single day case count since the beginning of the pandemic.

Public health authorities from the state Department of Health are advising anyone who may have been patrons at two Honolulu bars to step forward and contact their physicians for follow-up. This is to facilitate COVID-19 contact tracing efforts on the Island of Oʻahu.

After three consecutive days of record high one-day totals, Hawaii’s case count for new COVID-19 infections decreased, but remained in the double digits with 64 new positive cases on Sunday, July 26.

Mayor Michael Victorino called upon Maui County residents to redouble their efforts to practice health and safety protocols to curb the spread of COVID-19.  The statement comes as the state posted its third consecutive day of record high single-day increases in COVID-19 Cases.

The state of Hawaiʻi Department of Health today reported a COVID-19 related death in an Oahu resident.  No further details were immediately available relating to the case. This was was the 25th death linked to the pandemic reported in the state to date. Prior COVID-19 related deaths are posted here. Today there were a total of 17 new COVID-19 cases in Hawaiʻi for a total of 1,435 reported over the course of the pandemic. The new cases include 17 on Oʻahu.  There are currently 297 active cases in the state, including 11 on Maui.

Today there were a total of 25 new COVID-19 cases in Hawaiʻi for a total of 1,418 reported over the course of the pandemic. The new cases include 21 on Oʻahu and four on Maui.  There are currently 310 active cases in the state, including 11 on Maui. Health officials say 21 of the new cases are adults and four are pediatric. Two of the cases on Maui are associated with a history of out-of-state travel. DOH is also investigating small clusters of cases in Hawaiʻi associated with out-of-state workers, who were exempt from mandatory quarantine as critical infrastructure workers. Department officials say there has been no spread beyond this cluster, as all involved workers were not interacting with the broader community as part of the exemption and are now in quarantine.

Gov. David Ige has signed the 10th emergency proclamation, which keeps the mandatory 14-day quarantine in effect for travelers entering the State of Hawai‘i. Under the proclamation, travelers arriving in Hawai‘i will continue to undergo a mandatory screening process at the airport.

The new cases include 20 on Oʻahu, two on Hawaiʻi Island and one in a resident who was diagnosed while out of state.  The state Department of Health reports that due to updated testing, three cases were removed from the Oʻahu counts.  So far 994 people have been released from isolation and 317 COVID-19 cases remain active in the state.

There are 19 new COVID-19 cases reported for Hawaiʻi today, including–16 new cases on the island of Oʻahu, and three new cases where island residency is pending identification.  This brings the statewide count to 1,311 cases in Hawaiʻi over the course of the pandemic. To date, 975 people (75.6%) have recovered including 120 (93%) recovery in Maui County. There are currently 314 active cases in the state, including nine on Maui. As of July 14 at 4:30 p.m., there were 31 people hospitalized for COVID-19 in Hawaiʻi.

There are 29 new COVID-19 cases reported for Hawaiʻi today, including–27 new cases on the island of Oʻahu, and two new cases on Hawaiʻi Island.  This brings the statewide count to 1,292 cases in Hawaiʻi over the course of the pandemic.  To date, 951 people (74.8%) have recovered including 120 (93%) recovery in Maui County. There are currently 319 active cases in the state, including nine on Maui.

There are 22 new COVID-19 cases reported for Hawaiʻi today, including–19 new cases on the island of Oʻahu, and three new cases on Hawaiʻi Island.  This brings the statewide count to 1,264 cases in Hawaiʻi over the course of the pandemic. The state Department of Health also reports that as a result of updated information, one case from Honolulu was removed from the counts.
