Hurricane Fausto gained strength over the last 24 hours, becoming a Category I system on Monday afternoon. With maximum winds sustained at 75 mph, additional strengthening is expected to resume later today and continue through Wednesday, according to the National Hurricane Center.

Tropical Storm Fausto, located several hundred miles southwest of the southern tip of Baja California in the Eastern North Pacific, is forecast to become a Hurricane by Tuesday as it continues a path northwest near 10 mph.

At 8 a.m. on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, the center of Tropical Storm Amanda was located about 1,475 miles WSW of the southern tip of Baja California. Amanda is moving toward the NW near 8 mph and this motion is expected to continue through Friday, according to the National Hurricane Center.

Kiko has entered the Central Pacific basin as a Category 4 hurricane with maximum sustained winds of 130 mph, according to the latest forecast. The system was last located about 1,005 miles ESE of Hilo and 1,205 miles ESE of Honolulu, Hawaiʻi.

Kiko has re-intensified to a category 5 hurricane on its approach to the Central Pacific basin. According to a NHC forecast discussion: Kiko is forecast to approach the Hawaiian Islands during the early to the middle portion of next week. “Impacts from rain and wind remain a possibility, but it is too soon to determine the exact location or magnitude of these impacts, and interests there should continue to monitor the progress of this storm.”

Category 4 Hurricane Kiko is expected to cross into the central Pacific basin Friday night and approach the Hawaiian Islands during the early to the middle portion of next week.

Maui County residents are advised to prepare and monitor developments as Tropical Storm Hone approaches the state. Tropical Storm Hone is expected to pass near or south of the Big Island Saturday night into early Sunday. Strong and gusty easterly winds will continue Sunday into Monday as Hone passes south of the smaller islands. NWS was forecasting that East Maui would be the area most impacted on Maui, beginning Saturday afternoon.

Research from the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa revealed that intense tropical cyclones, equivalent to category 4 and 5 hurricanes, are arriving three to four days earlier with each decade of climate change.

Three tropical storms now in the Pacific Ocean are not forecast to impact Maui, according to the National Hurricane Center public advisories.

Even while weakening, Dora is expected to remain a hurricane through the entire 5-day forecast period, according to forecasters with the National Hurricane Center. The National Weather Service advises that “while it should continue to be monitored, guidance shows Dora passing south of the islands.”  Forecasters with the NWS are anticipating limited showers with trade winds becoming strong and gusty on Tuesday.

The Category 3 hurricane has maximum sustained winds of 125 mph with higher gusts. Forecasters with the National Hurricane Center say Dora has likely peaked in intensity.

The NWS says the “peak period of concern” at this time is approximately 6 p.m. Tuesday through 6 a.m. Wednesday with the “greatest potential for higher end rain rates occurring after midnight Tuesday night.” As of 5 p.m., the system was located about 655 miles ESE of Hilo Hawaiʻi; 730 miles ESE of Hāna, Maui; 760 miles ESE of Kahului, Maui; 800 miles ESE of Kaunakakai, Molokaʻi; 790 miles ESE of Lānaʻi City; and 855 miles ESE of Honolulu, Oʻahu.

The National Hurricane Center says storm total rainfall amounts of 4-7 inches are possible along windward areas of the Big Island of Hawaiʻi from Tuesday night into Thursday, with lower amounts of 1-4 inches elsewhere in the state. The NHC reports that a Tropical Storm Watch may be required for portions of the main Hawaiian Islands tonight.

The National Weather Service reports that Calvin will likely impact the state beginning next Tuesday, with the potential for windy and wet weather mid week. Hawaiʻi’s synopsis indicates that it’s still too early to forecast details.

Windy conditions and some wet weather could potentially develop around the middle of next week as Tropical Storm Calvin nears the islands from the east, according to the National Weather Service.

American Medical Response reminds citizens of Maui County to be prepared during hurricane season, which started on June 1, and runs through November.
