Transport of 400,000 tons of wildfire debris from Olowalu to Central Maui to begin in June
The transport of nonhazardous Lahaina wildfire debris from the Temporary Debris Storage Site in Olowalu to the Permanent Disposal Site at the Central Maui Landfill in Puʻunēnē will begin in early June.

County: Milestone reached with 100% sewer system restoration in Lahaina
Calling it a “significant milestone,” the County of Maui Department of Environmental Management Wastewater Reclamation Division announced that Lahaina’s County sewer system is now 100% active. The progress comes as homes and businesses look to rebuild after the August 2023 wildfire.
Fire debris cleared from final commercial property in Lahaina ahead of schedule
Debris was cleared from 148 commercial lots in Lahaina ahead of the Feb. 26, 2025, deadline. The clearing of the commercial lots follows the clearing of residential properties at the end of August 2024. In total, 1,538 residential and commercial properties have been cleared of wildfire debris.
