Funds Released for Honoapiʻilani Shoreline, Tsunami Repairs

An estimated $3 million in state funds were released today for shoreline improvements to the Honoapiʻilani Highway on Maui, Governor Neil Abercrombie announced.

Public Reminded to Keep Safe Distance From Whales

The US Coast Guard issued a reminder today of federal regulations that prohibit coming within 100 yards of whales when on the water, and 1,000 feet of them when operating an aircraft. The reminder comes as humpback whales enter the peak season in their annual return to the Hawaiian Islands.

The allegations stem from a home burglary in Lahaina reported earlier this month in which an unknown man and woman were found within a residence without authorization from the owner.

Grant Funds Maui Portuguese Association Radio Series

The non-profit group plans to use the funds to produce a 26-segment radio series entitled, “Stories of Our People,” scheduled to air on Sundays at 8:30 p.m. on Pacific Media Group’s, KNUI AM 550.
