Maui police charged a man with first degree attempted murder in connection with a shooting reported early Monday morning in Wailuku. Nathaniel Cachola, 19, of Kahului was charged on Tuesday, March 26, with bail set at $500,000, according to police reports.

Maui police arrested a Makawao man after he failed to stop at a road closure on Haleakalā Highway where an active investigation was underway into a fatal motor vehicle accident reported about three hours earlier. The incident ended as the man’s SUV collided into the rear of a parked MPD fleet vehicle.

An additional individual has been arrested in connection with an ongoing police investigation into the discovery of a body wrapped in plastic in a remote area of Kula earlier this month.

On Sunday, Dec. 13, 2020, at about 10:30 a.m., Jordan Ware, 34, of Wailuku was arrested for Rules and Orders, pertaining to quarantine violation, police said.

Maui police arrested a Kahului area man for allegedly threatening to kill a male and female “multiple times,” over the course of several days, according to police reports. Police say Caleb Carpenter allegedly utilized a machete while confronting the two individuals during the alleged confrontations.  

Police say those arrested allegedly took “substantial steps” to meet up with those “minors” for the purpose of engaging in criminal sexual acts with them.  However, instead of minors, these offenders were actually met and arrested by law enforcement officers, police said.

An adult male was arrested on Tuesday at Maui’s Hosmer Grove campground at Haleakalā National Park on suspicion of reckless endangerment, disorderly conduct and vandalism.

A Special Response Team from the Maui Police Department took a man into custody at a cottage on Kea Street this morning.

Police arrived to find the man in a vehicle parked at the Pukalani Terrace.  Police also found a pistol and ammunition in the vehicle.

Police say that on Tuesday evening, a 25-year-old Kīhei man turned himself in, identifying himself at the operator of the vehicle involved in the crash.

Officers arrested Shaun Nishida, 36, of Hāna, Maui. Police say Nishida was wanted for allegedly stabbing another male the previous day in Lahaina.

Maui police recovered drugs and stolen jewelry on Thursday during the arrest of a man wanted on outstanding warrants.

Edward James Martin of Kīhei was arrested and charged for the offense of Attempted Kidnapping in the First Degree.
