Maui firefighters responded to a rubbish fire off the Kūihelani Highway in Central Maui on Sunday. The incident was reported at 8:28 a.m. on Nov. 23.

The Maui Fire Department will conduct wildland live fire training on Nov. 10, 12, 18 and 19, as part of our 42nd Recruit Class. This training will be conducted in Waikapū, across from the Maui Tropical Plantation.

King Kamehameha III Elementary School in Lahaina will be closed today, Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2025, out of an abundance of caution. The closure will allow for a full inspection of the campus to assess any impacts of smoke exposure from the Kapalua fire.

A brush fire in the fields above Kapalua Airport burned 15 acres and was 100% contained by 7 a.m. on Tuesday. The fire was first reported in fallow agriculture lands at 12:35 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 3, 2025. Fire officials say the cause was accidental.

A detached cottage and an abandoned vehicle were destroyed in a fire reported on Thursday morning in Haʻikū. The blaze caused an estimated $40,000 in damage to the 600 square foot structure, according to fire officials.

A structure fire was reported at 9:42 a.m. today near 2171 Kauhikoa Road in Haʻikū. An advisory was issued to nearby residents due to possible smoke impacts.

UPDATE: 12:22 p.m., Oct. 27, 2025: The fire in Waiehu has been contained as of 12:14 p.m., per command.

Maui firefighters gained 100% containment on the Holomua Fire at around 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 26, 2025. The fire burned 380 acres since it was first reported at 1:29 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2025, along the upper portion of Holomua Road, about a mile below the Baldwin Avenue intersection, in Pāʻia. 

Maui fire officials have released details of a preliminary investigation into Tuesday’s Holomua Fire in Pāʻia, and have shared findings with the Maui Police Department for further investigation.

Maui fire crews will continue efforts today to increase containment and work toward extinguishing the 380 acre Holomua Fire that started on Tuesday afternoon in Pāʻia. The fire was 70% contained at last report. Overnight, crews patrolled the fire area and worked to address hot spots.

Pāʻia Elementary School will remain closed on Thursday, Sept. 25, as post-fire cleaning and safety assessments continue. The closure impacts both students and staff of Pāʻia Elementary School.

The Holomua Fire that started Tuesday afternoon in Pāʻia on Maui burned an estimated 380 acres and was 50% contained this morning, with no forward progress reported overnight.

Pāʻia Elementary School will be closed on Wednesday, Sept. 24, due to the impacts of a wildfire in the Pāʻia area. This closure will impact both students and staff of Pāʻia Elementary School.

Maui Emergency Management Agency lifted all evacuation orders and warnings for the Holomua fire, allowing people to return to zones. However, advisories remain in effect due to smoke impacts.

A fire on Lānaʻi caused an estimated $55,000 in damage to a structure on Caldwell Avenue in Lānaʻi City early Thursday morning.  

A brush fire reported in the area of Kahiapo Place in Haʻikū has since been extinguished as of 9:04 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2025. The fire was first reported at 7:16 a.m.

As of 3:22 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 11, 2025, the fire near Hoʻokele Street and Pakaula Street in Kahului was declared contained.

Maui Rescue Mission Executive Director Scott Hansen will provide a “Two Year Post-Fire Update” to the Rotary Club of Kīhei-Wailea, on Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2025.

A brush fire in the area of the Maui Business Park in Central Maui, was extinguished within an hour at 11:10 on Wednesday night.

A structure fire in the remote area of Kahikinui along the south east slopes of Haleakalā was contained overnight at around 12:14 a.m.
