Kīhei woman reported missing, last seen Sunday near School Street in Kahului
Melissa Saito, 31, of Kīhei was reported missing by a concerned family member on Monday after she failed to return home from a friend’s residence. Saito was last seen on Sunday, May 25, 2025, at approximately 8 p.m. in Kahului in the area of School Street.

Sergio Gabaudan, 28, of Kīhei was reported missing by a family member on Monday, May 19, 2025, after failing to show up to work on Sunday, May 18, 2025. He was last seen leaving his residence in Kīhei on Sunday, May 18, 2025, at approximately 5:30 a.m., and calls to his cell phone remain unanswered.

74-year-old Maui man charged with second-degree murder
A 74-year-old man from Haʻikū, Maui was arrested and formally charged with second-degree murder on Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2025. The charges stem from an incident reported at 7:34 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 25, in which Central Dispatch received a report of a woman who had sustained an injury, possibly from a fall, at a Haʻikū residence.

Former Maui police officer indicted for deprivation of civil rights allegation
A former Maui police officer was arrested Tuesday on a two-count indictment for allegedly using a Taser on a member of the public without apparent legal justification, according to authorities. The indictment against Carlos Frate, 40, of Kīhei, also alleges that he falsified a police incident report with the intent to obstruct the investigation into the use of force.

Tow truck accident in Kula claims life of Wailuku man
A 42-year-old Wailuku man was killed in a single vehicle collision in Kula, Maui on Friday. The accident was reported at 3:37 p.m. on Jan. 17, on Pulehuiki Road, about a half mile east of Lower Kula Road.
