Melissa Saito, 31, of Kīhei was reported missing by a concerned family member on Monday after she failed to return home from a friend’s residence. Saito was last seen on Sunday, May 25, 2025, at approximately 8 p.m. in Kahului in the area of School Street.

The Maui Police Department has launched its 2025 Citizen Survey in an ongoing effort to strengthen relationships with the community and improve public safety services.

The Maui Police Department, in collaboration with the Department of Law Enforcement (DLE), the Office of the Governor, and the Department of the Attorney General, will host a Gun Buyback Event at the Maui County Service Center (110 ʻAlaʻihi Street, Kahului), on Saturday, June 14, 2025, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Continuing through the Memorial Day holiday, the Maui Police Department’s Traffic Division will conduct sobriety checkpoints and saturation patrols. The public can expect an increased police presence, including using unmarked vehicles.

Sergio Gabaudan, 28, of Kīhei was reported missing by a family member on Monday, May 19, 2025, after failing to show up to work on Sunday, May 18, 2025.  He was last seen leaving his residence in Kīhei on Sunday, May 18, 2025, at approximately 5:30 a.m., and calls to his cell phone remain unanswered.

An apparent road rage incident led to a physical altercation in which one man was stabbed in Waiehu, Wednesday morning.

The Maui Police Department is seeking the public’s help in identifying two individuals involved in two armed robberies in Upcountry Maui on Tuesday, April 22, 2025. The department released video in the hopes of obtaining new information.

The Maui Police Department is seeking the public’s help with any information on the whereabouts of Leinaala Funk, 23, of Pukalani. Funk was last seen on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at the Maui Marketplace in Kahului. She has no vehicle or cellular phone.

A 28-year-old Kahului man succumbed to injuries suffered when he was struck by a car while trying to cross Kahului Beach Road on foot.

Maui Police Department Lt. Nicholas Angell was one of 244 law enforcement officers who graduated from the FBI National Academy on March 13.

A preliminary police investigation reveals that a black 2023 Harley Davidson Sportster motorcycle was traveling west on West Kaʻahumanu Avenue when the motorcycle veered right over the solid white fog line, striking a curb and embankment before colliding head-on into the northeast corner of the Tings Bridge retaining wall.

A 74-year-old man from Haʻikū, Maui was arrested and formally charged with second-degree murder on Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2025. The charges stem from an incident reported at 7:34 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 25, in which Central Dispatch received a report of a woman who had sustained an injury, possibly from a fall, at a Haʻikū residence.

Beginning Friday, Feb. 7, 2025, and continuing through the weekend, the Maui Police Department – Traffic Division will be conducting sobriety checkpoints and saturation patrols at various locations to address impaired driving over the Big Game weekend.  

A former Maui police officer was arrested Tuesday on a two-count indictment for allegedly using a Taser on a member of the public without apparent legal justification, according to authorities. The indictment against Carlos Frate, 40, of Kīhei, also alleges that he falsified a police incident report with the intent to obstruct the investigation into the use of force.

A 42-year-old Wailuku man was killed in a single vehicle collision in Kula, Maui on Friday. The accident was reported at 3:37 p.m. on Jan. 17, on Pulehuiki Road, about a half mile east of Lower Kula Road.
