Hawaiian Electric refines Battery Bonus incentive program

Battery Bonus pays monthly bill credits and a one-time cash incentive to residential and commercial customers on O‘ahu and Maui who add energy storage to an existing or new rooftop solar system. The program requires customers to use and/or export electricity stored in the battery daily on a firm two-hour schedule during the evening peak.

Update: 350 still without power; initial outage impacted 6,900 customers from Pukalani to Hāna, Maui

Hawaiian Electric crews are currently working on repairs to damaged electrical equipment to restore a remaining 350 customers from Peʻahi to Nāhiku on Maui. Approximately 6,900 customers from the Pukalani to Hāna area experienced the outage starting around 6:40 a.m. 

Update: Olinda Road closed due to downed trees and utility lines

Update (2:10 p.m., March 3, 2023) Utility lines, trees and debris remain on the roadway at the first hairpin turn area of 719 Olinda Road. Olinda Road remains closed to through traffic at Hanamu Road, but is open to local traffic only. Residents need to access via Piʻiholo Road.  Per utility companies, this area will remain closed possibly until tomorrow afternoon.

Front Street in West Maui is shut down in both directions between Baker Street and Kenui Street. Maui police say Hawaiian Electric Company is on scene where tree trimming is currently underway.

Kīhei power outage leaves 3,000 South Maui customers in the dark

Crews with Hawaiian Electric Company on Maui are responding to a power outage in South Maui. Residents from the Kaonoulu Estates subdivision in North Kīhei and nearby neighborhoods report the outage started at around 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2023.

An estimated 2,000 customers are without power this morning in Wailuku. The outage was first reported at around 5:40 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 8, 2022. Crews from Hawaiian Electric are investigating the cause.

Canceled: Utility work required momentary road closure on Hāna Highway, April 13

A momentary road closure on Hāna Highway, between mile markers 10 and 12, on Wednesday, April 13, 2022 is canceled and traffic will no longer be impacted for utility work taking place due to a modified helicopter route and staging area. 

Power restored to 7,200 on Maui after generator tripped at Māʻalaea

About 7,200 customers in parts of Kahului, South Maui, Lahaina, Kula and Kūʻau experienced an outage when a generator tripped at the Māʻalaea Generating Station.

West Maui Group Secures Agreement with Proposed Solar Project in Kahana
