Nov. 3, 2020 COVID-19 Update: 89 New Cases (73 O‘ahu, 7 Hawai‘i Island, 3 Lāna‘i, 1 Kaua‘i, 5 Out of State)

There were 89 new COVID-19 cases in Hawai‘i today, including 73 on O‘ahu, seven on Hawai‘i Island, three on Lānaʻi, one on Kaua‘i, and five in Hawai‘i residents diagnosed outside of the state. Maui and Moloka‘i had no new cases today.

10 Positives Out of 11,027 Post-Arrival COVID-19 Tests in Hawai‘i

Initial results indicate less than 1 out of 1,000 of travelers testing positive for COVID-19 post-arrival to Hawaiʻi. A separate post-arrival test established on Maui has documented three positive cases out of more than 1,200 individuals who have opted for participation in the program between Oct. 17 and 31.

Maui Mask Wearing Campaign: “If You Have to Ask, Wear a Mask.”

“Unless you’re eating, drinking or smoking, or (doing) strenuous exercise, you need to have your mask on.  So if you’re laying on the beach getting a tan, unfortunately you’ll get a nice tan across the middle of your face… if you’re laying at a beach at a pool, you need to wear your mask.”

Mayor: Maui Logs Two More Deaths for Total of 19 Over Course of Pandemic

One individual was a male resident between the ages of 40 and 49 with pre-existing health conditions and was hospitalized at the time of his passing.  Mayor Victorino said this was not a recent death, but was recently confirmed as COVID-related.

Moloka‘i Residents Offered Free COVID-19 Testing on Nov. 5

Molokaʻi residents can get free COVID-19 testing from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 5, at the Mitchell Pauole Community Center in Kaunakakai.

Kapolei High School on O‘ahu Reports 3 COVID Cases in Past Week, Temporarily Closing Campus

School officials announced today that the Kapolei High School campus on Oʻahu will be closed to students and staff after three employee-related COVID-19 cases were reported in the last four days.

Nov. 2, 2020 COVID-19 Update: 78 New Cases (65 O‘ahu, 4 Hawai‘i Island, 2 Maui, 1 Lāna‘i, 1 Kaua‘i, 5 Out of State)

There were 78 new COVID-19 cases in Hawai‘i today, including 65 on O‘ahu, four on Hawai‘i Island, two on Maui (both in Kīhei), one on Lānaʻi, one on Kaua‘i, and five in Hawai‘i residents diagnosed outside of the state. Moloka‘i had no new cases today. On Lānaʻi, 99 of the 100 total infections are associated with the recent outbreak, first reported on Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2020. The cumulative total of cases in Maui County is 527 cases over the course of the pandemic.  To date, there have been 17 cases on the island Molokaʻi and 100 on Lāna‘i and 410 on Maui.

State of Hawai‘i Seeks Additional “Trusted Testing Partners” for Trans-Pacific Travel

“We are committed to developing as broad a network of trusted tested partners as possible to administer the test. Now that the pre-travel testing program has been successfully launched, we are looking to expand the network with the goal of making it easier to safely travel to Hawai‘i,” said Gov. Ige.

Nov. 1, 2020 COVID-19 Update: 83 New Cases (53 O‘ahu, 26 Hawai‘i Island, 1 Kaua‘i, 3 Out of State)

There were 83 new COVID-19 cases in Hawai‘i today, including 53 on O‘ahu, 26 on Hawai‘i Island, one on Kaua‘i, and three in Hawai‘i residents diagnosed outside of the state. Lānaʻi, Moloka‘i and Maui had no new cases today. The cumulative total of cases in Maui County is 524 cases over the course of the pandemic.  To date, there have been 17 cases on the island Molokaʻi and 99 on Lāna‘i and 408 on Maui.

Nearly 400 COVID-19 Tests Administered on Lāna‘i During Mass Testing on Saturday

Nearly 400 COVID-19 tests were administered to Lānaʻi residents on Saturday during a six-hour mass testing event aimed at curbing the spread of the virus.

Expanded COVID-19 Dashboard Launches Monday

The Hawai‘i Emergency Management Agency in collaboration with the Department of Health will launch an expanded COVID-19 dashboard on Monday, Nov. 2, 2020 at 3 p.m.

There were 68 new COVID-19 cases in Hawai‘i today, including 46 on O‘ahu, 15 on Hawai‘i Island, one on Maui (in Kahului), and six in Hawai‘i residents diagnosed outside of the state. Lānaʻi, Moloka‘i and Kaua‘i had no new cases today. To date, there have been 17 cases on the island Molokaʻi and 99 on Lāna‘i and 408 on Maui.

State and Federal Teams Deploy to Lāna‘i as Cases Hover Just Under 100

Next week a team of DOH staff and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention staff will visit Lāna‘i to provide additional on-site support.

Oct. 30, 2020 COVID-19 Update: 94 New Cases (74 O‘ahu, 14 Hawai‘i Island, 3 Maui, 2 Lana‘i, 1 Kaua‘i) 1 Death

There were 94 new COVID-19 cases in Hawai‘i today, including 74 on O‘ahu, 14 on Hawai‘i Island, three on Maui, two on Lānaʻi and one on Kaua‘i. Moloka‘i had no new cases today. The Maui cases today were in: Wailuku, Kīhei and Haʻikū. On Lānaʻi, the two new cases bring the total number of infections associated with the recent outbreak to 98, since the outbreak was first reported on Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2020.

420,000 Abbott BinaxNOW COVID-19 Antigen Tests to Scale Up Hawai‘i’s Testing Capacity

The rapid point of care tests, which can diagnose coronavirus infection in as little as fifteen minutes, will be distributed at the discretion of Governor David Ige to support testing K-12 students, teachers, nursing home patients and staff, higher education, critical infrastructure, first responders, and other priorities as he deems fit.

Maui County Launches Free COVID-19 Community Testing for Residents

Mayor Michael Victorino recently announced the launch of a free COVID-19 community testing program sponsored by the County of Maui and administered by Minit Medical. Residents do not need insurance or meet any criteria to get tested for free.

Deadline Oct. 31 for First-Time Applicants to Kōkua Maui County Small Business Recovery & Relief Fund

An additional $1 million has been added to the Kōkua Maui County Small Business Recovery and Relief Fund, bringing the County of Maui’s total for the fund to $8 million in assistance to local businesses.

Maui Police Issue Reminder to Wear a Mask or Facial Covering

Facial coverings are required in Maui County. The most recent County of Maui Public Health Emergency Proclamation was amended on Oct. 23, 2020.
