The unveiling was marked with a cultural protocol ceremony led by members of the Royal Order of Kamehameha I.

Wailuku man reported missing after failing to return from a medical appointment on May 3
The Maui Police Department requests the public’s help with any information on the whereabouts of Rowland Ramos, 57, of Wailuku. Ramos was reported missing by a concerned family member on May 3, 2025 after he left a medical appointment in Wailuku and has not been in contact with family members. Ramos was last seen on May 3, 2025 at 5 p.m. in the area of Maui Lani Parkway in Wailuku.

DOH reports eighth travel-related dengue virus case of 2025
The Hawai‘i Department of Health has confirmed a new travel-related case of dengue virus on Oʻahu, bringing the total number of dengue cases to eight in the state in 2025 (one on Maui, seven on Oʻahu). The affected individual in this current case was exposed to the virus while traveling in a region where dengue is common.
