Maui County’s voters can expect to receive their General Election ballot packages starting Oct. 18.

Members of Maui’s Micronesian community took part in UH Maui College’s second annual Micronesian Dental Hygiene event held Saturday on the college’s Kahului campus.

Hawaiian Electric reports the company is monitoring high winds and dry conditions across the state, which may lead to an increased risk of wildfires. The Construction Industry of Maui announced that its annual golf tournament raised $65,000 to support construction trade programs in Maui County high schools. A new study by researchers at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa’s Center on Aging finds that methamphetamine poisoning is the leading cause of fatal overdoses among midlife and older adults in Hawai‘i. The research was published in the August 2024 issue of Hawaiʻi Journal of Health and Social Welfare.

The County of Maui has approved with conditions building permits for Kahoma Village to reconstruct four multi-family buildings totaling 24 units that were destroyed in the August 2023 wildfires.
