“The flows are reaching a relatively flat area and are beginning to slow down; as this happens, the lava flow will spread out and inflate. Forecasts indicate it may take two days for lava flows to reach the Daniel K. Inouye Highway (Saddle Road),” according to the HVO.

One of last Hawaiian honeycreepers of its kind from Kauaʻi dies on Maui, DLNR says
One of the last remaining Hawaiian ‘akikiki birds endemic to Kauaʻi died recently on Maui, according to a joint statement Tuesday by the state Department of Land and Natural Resources and the San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance. The bird, named Carrot, was likely killed by a common pathogen or fungal infection, the news release said.

Governor Ige issues Emergency Proclamation for Mauna Loa eruption
“We’re thankful the lava flow is not affecting residential areas at this time, allowing schools and businesses to remain open. I’m issuing this Emergency Proclamation now to allow responders to respond quickly or limit access, if necessary, as the eruption continues,” said Gov. David Ige.
Additional closures of recreation areas as lava continues to flow at Mauna Loa

A 4.0 magnitude earthquake reported at 3:27 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 29, was located 6 miles east of Pāhala at a depth of 20 miles.
Maui Flood Warning until 11 p.m.
At 8:05 p.m., radar showed heavy rain from nearly stationary thunderstorms anchored over East Maui. Rain was falling at a rate of 2 to 3 inches per hour. The NWS reports that flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.
