UH Maui College Offers Free CNA Trainings across Maui County
The University of Hawaiʻi Maui College is offering free training for individuals residing on Lānaʻi, Molokaʻi, and Maui (including Hāna in East Maui) to become Certified Nurse Aides during the spring 2023 semester. Classes run from Jan. 9 to May 12, and involve both online and in-person instruction.

Justice Department: Two Maui men found guilty of hate crimes for racially motivated attack in Kahakuloa
After a two-week jury trial, a federal jury today found Defendants Kaulana Alo-Kaonohi, 32, and Levi Aki, Jr., 33, each guilty of a hate crime for what prosecutors described as “racially motivated attacks” on C.K., a white man, when he attempted to move into the home he had purchased in their Kahakuloa neighborhood.
Twelve More Streams in East Maui’s Huelo region gain Interim Instream Flow Standards
The State Commission on Water Resource Management amended interim instream flow standards on Tuesday for 12 streams and tributaries in the Huelo region of East Maui, and reserved water for the Department of Hawaiian Home Lands.
