The Oʻahu real estate market set record highs for September 2021 with the single-family home median price rising to $1,050,000, 19% higher than a year ago, and the condo median price rising by 8% to $480,000, according to the recent Oʻahu Residential Real Estate Report published by real estate firm Locations.

For the first time since July, new COVID-19 case counts in Hawai‘i have dropped into the double digits with 91 new cases reported today by the state Department of Health.

The Maui Police Commission this morning announced the selection of John Pelletier as the final candidate for Police Chief for Maui County. The final candidate must still undergo pre-employment requirements, a background check and a psychological evaluation, and is still subject to a final vote by the Commission following receipt and review of these items.

Maui Mayor Michael Victorino has decided to lift the ban on spectators at youth sports events held outdoors, even though all of his requests that were submitted for approval earlier this week to relax current orders, were denied by the governor.

“You can see that now we are trending down–we’re absolutely heading in the right direction; but we’re still far above what the peak was for previous surges. So that’s why we’re asking that people be patient,” said Dr. Libby Char, state Health Director.
