After Eruption: Anchialine Pools Show Signs of New Life at Pohoiki
Pohoiki is the site of a former boat ramp, rendered obsolete after being surrounded by lava on Hawaiʻi Island. It is now the home of at least seven anchialine pools, becoming the home of ʻōpaeʻula and other native shrimp that are starting to inhabit the waters.

Search Underway for Opihi Picker Off Hawai‘i Island
A search is underway off Hawaiʻi Island for a 40-year-old man who was picking opihi with a friend, but was swept offshore by a wave. His friend was able to make it back to shore and was rescued from the bottom of a 60-foot cliff by fire department personnel.

A Maui man was arrested and charged in connection with an assault reported in near the Pāʻia Youth Center last week.
Kahului Man Arrested for Arson in Connection with Car Fire
A Kahului man was arrested on Tuesday following an investigation into a vehicle arson fire reported the day before in Central Maui. Through an investigation police identified the offender as Robert Jordan, 41, of Kahului.
Traffic Alert: Accident on Ka‘ahumanu Avenue, Kahului
Emergency responders are on the scene of a traffic accident on Kaʻahumanu Avenue in Kahului. The accident was reported before 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 14, 2019 near the Kahului Beach Road intersection. Wailuku bound lanes are blocked and motorists are using Kahului Beach Road as a detour around the scene. Motorists can expect delays in the area.
