This came ahead of the Aloha Classic event at Hoʻokipa this week, happening Oct. 21- Nov. 1, 2024. Established in 1984, the Aloha Classic is the longest running windsurfing wave event, and is the final stop on the International Windsurfing Tour. 

The Maui Marathon Committee today announced the return of the Maui Marathon to Kāʻanapali in 2025. The 55th annual event, which includes the 26.2-mile race along with the Half Marathon, 10k and 5k Run/Walks, will take place on April 27, 2025.

If you are an adult who has never learned to swim or lacks confidence about your swim skills, take note: the County of Maui Department of Parks and Recreation is sponsoring a series of five Adult Learn to Swim lessons that will be offered free of charge during the month of November at the Upcountry Pool in Pukalani. 

Arisumi successfully defended her girls MIL individual crown, while Yu’s gold medal is his first win in four years of competing. The MIL will send 13 girls and 12 boys to the state tournament Oct. 29 on O’ahu.

The University of Hawaiʻi is joining the Mountain West Conference as a full member effective July 1, 2026.

On Wednesday in Brazil, Maui’s own Jackson Bunch became the last surfer to make the cut for the World Surf League’s 2025 Championship Tour, as Marco Mignot eliminated Levi Slawson in the quarterfinals at the Corona Saquarema Pro presented by Banco do Brasil.

The Hawaiʻi State Junior Golf Association | First Tee – Hawaiʻi (HSJGA|FTH) conducted the 2024 Maui Junior Championship at Wailea Blue Golf Course this past weekend, Oct. 12-13. The 36 hole event drew a total of 48 junior golfers from across the state.

With his victory at the Procore Championship, Patton Kizzire became the most recent player to qualify for The Sentry, and 21 of the 24 Presidents Cup team members are currently qualified for the PGA TOUR’s annual trip to Maui. The Sentry returns to The Plantation Course at Kapalua Jan. 2-5, 2025.

Members of the Central East Maui Little League enjoyed the Westin Maui’s new Social Space on Saturday. The hometown heroes were among the first to experience the resort’s cutting-edge social space in celebration of a successful season that advanced them all the way to the Little League World Series tournament.

LPGA*USGA Girls Golf Hawaiʻi is excited to announce its upcoming fall sessions on Maui, offering girls aged 6 to 17 the opportunity to learn and improve their golf skills in a fun and empowering environment at Maui Nui Golf Club.

Four teams have been announced for the 8th Maui Classic, an NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament taking place at the Seabury Hall Erdman Athletic Center from Dec. 19 to 20, 2024.

Parents can now register their kids age 7 to 9 for a youth development golf program sponsored by the Maui Police Activities League (MPAL).

The Honpa Hongwanji Federation State Judo Championships made its triumphant return to the Valley Isle as host Makawao Hongwanji Judo Club welcomed more than 121 judoka and their families from across the state. Judoka from six different Hongwanji judo clubs filled the King Kekaulike High School Gymnasium over the muggy Labor Day weekend.

The two teams joined in the potluck tradition after Lahainaluna beat Moloka‘i in the Famers’ MIL 11-player football debut on Saturday night.

Access to Keōpūolani Park facilities will be temporarily restricted to competition use Saturday morning, Aug. 31, to host a Maui Interscholastic League Cross Country event in preparation for the Hawaiʻi High School Athletic Association State Championship event in the fall, the County of Maui Department of Parks and Recreation announced.

Tournament officials from The Sentry today announced ticket options for the 2025 event when the first signature event of the PGA TOUR regular season returns to the Plantation Course from Jan. 2-5.

Below is a list of events that have been confirmed by the Hawaiʻi High School Athletic Association as cancelled or postponed for this weekend: Girls Volleyball – Haleakalā Waldorf at Lānaʻi (canceled); Girls Volleyball – Molokaʻi at Seabury (postponed); Football – Maui at Keaʻau (canceled); 8-man Football – Seabury at Hāna (postponed.)

With the tying run at third base, the Central East Maui Little League All-Stars fell just short in a 4-3 elimination game loss to Lake Mary, Fla., on Wednesday. They were one of the final eight teams in the tournament.

The Central East Maui All-Stars suffered a slim 4-3 loss to Lake Mary Little League of Florida, the Southeast region representative on Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2024, ending their World Series run in Williamsport, Pa. Florida moves on to play Nevada after the Mountain team was defeated 5-2 against Texas earlier in the day. The winner of Florida vs. Nevada will advance to the US Championship game on Saturday against Texas.

Tournament officials from The Sentry today announced ticket options for the 2025 event when the first Signature Event of the PGA TOUR Regular Season returns to The Plantation Course from Jan. 2-5 (Thursday through Sunday). As part of the TOUR’s Opening Drive, The Sentry is the season-opening event for the 2025 FedExCup Regular Season as it returns to a calendar-year schedule for the second consecutive year.
