Grab-and-go Meal Service on Molokaʻi is being modified as a precaution after confirmation of a positive COVID-19 case involving a Molokaʻi High School employee.

Second Member of Lt. Gov. Josh Green’s Security Detail Tests Positive for COVID-19

As of Sunday, Sept. 13, the two deputy sheriffs and Lt. Gov. Green are the only confirmed positive cases in the Lieutenant Governor’s Office. The remaining 11 office employees have been tested. One test result was negative and the others are pending results.

114 New COVID-19 Cases (96 O‘ahu, 2 Maui, 16 Hawai‘i Island), 2 Deaths

There were 114 new COVID-19 cases in Hawai‘i today including 96 on O‘ahu, two in Maui County and 16 on Hawai‘i Island. Maui had two additional cases today, with the cumulative total rising to 375.  The latest cases on Maui include one case in Lahaina and one in Kula.

Wellness Workshop Finds Strength in Cultural Practice Amid Ongoing COVID-19 Challenges

The discussion comes as the Lāhui Kānaka kapu comes to an end on Monday.  The 30-day kapu was launched by a group of kumu hula to focus on mauli ola or health and wellbeing amid the ongoing challenge faced by COVID-19.

A fire near the Ukumehame Firing Range on Maui blackened a total of 105 acres since it was first reported at mid-day on Saturday, and is now 100% contained. 

September is National Preparedness Month in Hawai’i

$1.8 M in Additional Grants to Respond to COVID-19 Impacts in Maui County

Maui County will receive an additional $1,874,312 in Community Development Block Grants (CDBG-CV) intended to provide critical assistance to vulnerable populations amid the coronavirus pandemic. The additional funding would be the third disbursement of CDBG funding from the federal CARES ACt.

Nine people were displaced by a house fire reported at around 1:32 p.m. on Saturday at a home located on Wainohia Street in Kīhei, Maui. 

Air Assets Used to Battle Ukumehame Fire, 70% Contained

Maui fire crews utilized air assets to battle a brush fire near the Ukumehame Firing Range in West Maui on Saturday afternoon.  At 4:12 p.m., Maui Fire officials report that the blaze is still active and about 70% contained. 

131 New COVID-19 Cases (115 O‘ahu, 6 Maui, 10 Hawai‘i Island), 1 Death

There were 131 new COVID-19 cases in Hawai‘i today including 115 on O‘ahu, six in Maui County and 10 on Hawai‘i Island. Hawai‘i’s COVID-19 death toll rose to 97 with the passing of one more O‘ahu residents.

UPDATE Missing Person Located: Woman Arrived on Maui on Sept. 8, May Be in Honokōhau Valley

Investigation reveals that Martina Sharica “Marmar” Wilson arrived on Maui on Tuesday Sept. 8, 2020. She indicated she would be staying in Honokōhau Valley, but gave no specific residence or address. Per family, Wilson stated she was moving to Maui to become a “holistic teacher/healer at a local village.”

MPD: Suspect Uses a Golf Club to Strike Bicyclist in “Unprovoked Attack” in Ha‘ikū, Maui

On Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2020, between 9:30 and 10 p.m., a male was riding his bicycle on Haʻikū Road when he was confronted by another male operating a newer model white pickup truck, possibly a Toyota.  Police say the suspect exited the vehicle and struck the bicyclist with a golf club several times, causing injury.

Hawai‘i’s COVID-19 death toll rose to 96 with the passing of two more O‘ahu residents.  Details are pending release. Maui had four additional cases today, with the cumulative total rising to 367.  The latest cases on Maui included one case each in Wailuku, Kahului and Lahaina, and one case in one of the outlying remote communities of Maui County.
