Don’t overfill the County trash cart. Its lid must be fully closed. Overfilled carts spill, exposing workers and the community to possible injury and illness. Overfilled carts may not be picked up.

Maui Out-of-State Passenger Arrivals By Air Drop to 18: 6 Crew, 9 Residents, 3 Visitors

A total of 663 people arrived in Hawaiʻi from out-of-state on Thursday, including 107 visitors, 171 residents, 241 transit, 45 intended residents and 99 crew members, according to new data compiled by the Hawaiʻi Tourism Authority.

$130 Million in New Federal Funds Headed to Hawai‘i for Hospitals and Healthcare

US Senator Brian Schatz (D-Hawai‘i) announced that Hawai‘i is set to receive more than $130 million in new federal funding to help local hospitals and health care providers respond to the coronavirus pandemic.

Drive-Through Testing FRIDAY, April 10: in Kahului (2nd Day) and Hāna in East Maui

Drive-through testing for COVID-19 will take place again for a second day on Friday, April 10, at Keōpūolani Regional Park.  Maui Mayor Michael Victorino reports that more than 700 tests were completed in Thursday’s testing at the location. 

Maui County Night-Time Curfew Pilot Program and Stricter Rules to Start Friday

Maui Mayor Michael Victorino announced a night-time curfew pilot program will start at 11 p.m. Friday night, April 10, for Maui County. Curfew will be from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Kīhei Man Held on $105,000 Bail, Accused of Burglary During Civil Emergency

Maui police say an unknown adult male forcefully entered a jewelry store in Pāʻia at approximately 2:55 a.m. on March 30, 2020, and allegedly removed multiple items estimated at over $100,000. The male suspect, later identified by Maui Police as Chase Mociun, 37, of Kīhei was arrested and charged for Burglary of a Building in a Civil Defense Emergency, Theft I and Criminal Conspiracy.  Due to County of Maui being in a Disaster Emergency Relief Period, police say the Burglary of a Building becomes a “B” Felony.

The Hawaiʻi Department of Education’s Grab-and-Go school meal service will be off on the Good Friday holiday, April 10, 2020. Service will resume on Monday, April 13, with breakfast and lunch for children 18 and younger.

The Kahului Drive Through Testing site that opened at 8 a.m. this morning at Keopuolani Park. It drew an estimated 300+ people who were already in line upon opening.  Some who attended the testing tell us they waited in line for approximately two hours to get tested. 

Hawai‘i Coronavirus Total Now 442: 7 New Cases, Maui Total is 57

As of noon on Thursday, April 9, 2020, there are 442 cases of COVID-19 identified in Hawaiʻi with 7 new cases. Maui County has 3 new cases for a total of 57 confirmed positive. Of the 57 cases in Maui County, at least 31 have been released from isolation, and 5 have required hospitalization.

No Major Damage From Kīhei Flooding Earlier This Week

No major damage was reported from flooding in South Maui earlier this week.  Heavy rains resulted in flooding in parts of Kīhei on Monday night and Tuesday morning.

Water Shut-Down in Parts of Wailuku on Tuesday, April 14

A portion of homes and businesses in the Wailuku area will have their water shut off from approximately 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. The shut-down will affect all water services off of Church Street from Main Street to Vineyard Street.  DWS customers along Church Street are encouraged to store water and adjust schedules as appropriate.

Food Distributions for Residents in Need TODAY at 10 a.m. in Central and South Maui

Two food distributions take place TODAY, Thursday, April 9, to provide bags of produce to individuals impacted by COVID-19 in Wailuku, Kahului and South Maui. Distributions start at 10 a.m. and continue while supplies last at the following locations: War Memorial Gymnasium parking lot (700 Halia Nakoa Street) for Wailuku and Kahului residents; and South Maui Community Park Gymnasium parking lot (1501 Liloa Drive) for South Maui residents.

COVID-19 Drive Through Testing in KAHULUI on THURSDAY; and in HANA on FRIDAY

Drive through testing sites are being offered in Kahului in Central Maui on Thursday, April 9; and in the East Maui Community of Hāna on Friday, April 10, 2020.  The first two hours of the Kahului clinic are reserved for first responders and health care workers.  The news comes on the heels of a confirmed cluster of 15 workers with Maui Health that tested positive for COVID-19.
