Unsafe water advisory issued for Upper Kula and Lahaina areas affected by wildfires
The County of Maui Department of Water Supply is issuing an unsafe water alert for areas of Upper Kula and Lahaina affected by wildfires. As a precaution, customers in those areas are advised not to drink and not to boil their water. Instead of tap water, customers are advised to use only bottled water for drinking, brushing teeth, making ice and preparing food.
Boil Water Advisory update: Some areas of Kula removed from list
Areas where the boil water advisory is lifted are: a section of Kula Highway from Lepelepe Place to Mālamahale Place, Lepelepe Place, Malia Uli Place and Mālamahale Place.
Boil Water Notice issued for residents of Kalaʻe, Molokaʻi
The Department of Water Supply is advising customers in the Kalaʻe system on Molokaʻi to boil water before consumption due to possible E. coli contamination.
Upper Kula water now disinfected with chlorine
For the chlorine to reach the furthest points of the water system, it may take up to seven days. Chlorine is already used as a disinfectant in the Lower Kula and Makawao water systems. Upcountry customers in Olinda, Lower Kula and Makawao are not affected.
Boil Water Advisory extended to Lepelepe, Mālamahale and Malia Uli places
The Maui County Department of Water Supply has extended the Upcountry boil water advisory to Lepelepe Place, Mālamahale Place and Malia Uli Place, according to an updated issued on Thursday afternoon, Dec. 30, 2021. The department recommends residents boil water for at least a minute before consumption as a precaution against possible bacteria in tap water.
Update: Naʻalae Road added back to Boil Water Advisory list
Residents of Naʻalae Road were added back to the County of Maui’s Boil Water Advisory list today, Dec 29, 2021. The area was previously removed from the list, but was added back today because the department is conducting maintenance in the area, replacing standpipes, and flushing lines.
Dec. 26 Upcountry Boil Water Advisory Update
The department also has conducted additional testing and residents of Lower Kula Road are now advised to boil water as a precaution until further notice.

The Maui County Department of Water Supply reports Friday morning that, while trace levels of bacteria are dropping in affected Upper Kula system waterlines, a boil water advisory continues for residents of Waipoli, Polipoli and Middle roads, Kula Highway at Kēōkea, Thompson Road and ʻUlupalakua.
Boil Water Advisory lifted for Na‘alae Rd.; Remains in place for others
The County of Maui Department of Water Supply reports this morning that water sample testing has removed Naʻalae Road in Kula from the list of areas where a boil water advisory remains in effect. Residents of Naʻalae Road no longer need to boil water as a precaution against findings of trace amounts of E. coli in the Upper Kula water system.

The Department of Water Supply reports that while some areas have tested clear for the presence of E coli in waterlines, there may be nearby, connected waterlines with possible contamination. Until flushing of waterlines is completed, it is advised to continue boiling water.
Upper Kula Residents & Businesses Advised to Boil Water Before Consumption
The Department of Water Supply is advising Upper Kula residents and businesses from Crater Road to Kanaio to boil water before consumption. Trace amounts of E coli bacteria have been detected within the last 24 hours, and out of an abundance of caution, a boil water advisory is in effect. There was no presence of E coli in earlier water sampling.
Honokōhau Boil Water Advisory Lifted
The resampled water has been confirmed to meet Federal Environmental Protection Agency and State Department of Health water quality standards and does not contain any trace of E. coli contamination.

Water Conservation Continues, Boil Water Limited to ʻĪao Valley Rd and Main St
As of Friday, Sept. 16, 2016 at 2 p.m. the water restriction imposed on consumers on Iao Valley Road and a portion of Main Street remains in effect. The request to conserve water also remains in effect for Wailuku, Kahului and Lahaina customers.
