Child & Family Service joined hundreds of Maui families and community partners at the 6th Annual ʻOhana Fest on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at UH Maui College, in a strong show of support for Child Abuse Prevention Month.

As friends, family, and community members recently gathered to celebrate the life of Wayne Minami, Child & Family Service joins American Savings Bank in honoring a man whose generosity, leadership, and quiet commitment to service strengthened countless families across Hawaiʻi.

In recognition of Poverty Awareness Month, Child & Family Service highlights the wide range of programs and services available across Hawaiʻi to help individuals and families address financial hardship and build long-term stability.

American Savings Bank announced the results of its 2025 Kahiau Giving Campaign, contributing more than $277,000 to four local nonprofits. This year, 94% of teammates participated in the annual employee-led initiative, a 2% increase from the prior year. Since its inception nearly 15 years ago, the Kahiau program has generated more than $4 million in total donations.

The Hoʻoikaika Partnership, a coalition of more than 75 organizations and individuals, will host a series of community events this month to raise awareness about child abuse and neglect prevention in Maui County.

Child abuse remains a critical issue in Hawaiʻi. According to the Hawaiʻi State Department of Health’s 2023 Child Abuse and Neglect Report, 4,269 children were reported as potential victims, with 788 confirmed cases, a confirmation rate of 18%.

American Savings Bank has awarded $100,000 to 10 local nonprofits through a community-driven competition celebrating the bank’s 100th anniversary.

Maui Economic Opportunity was one of 10 nonprofits in the state to receive $10,000 from the American Savings Bank Charitable Foundation.

To celebrate 100 years of serving Hawaiʻi, American Savings Bank is giving back with a $100,000 donation to local nonprofits through the newly launched ASB Charitable Foundation. Ten organizations will each receive $10,000 – and the public is invited to decide the recipients by voting online.

Priscilla Chan and Mark Zuckerberg, through the Chan Zuckerberg Kauaʻi Community Fund, recently awarded a total of $1 million to benefit 26 nonprofits as part of their ongoing support for organizations across the Garden Isle.

American Savings Bank is proud to announce that its 2024 Kahiau Giving Campaign has raised $443,000. The charitable contribution will support five local nonprofits in their efforts to improve the quality of life for Hawaiʻi residents. More than 90% of ASB teammates participated in the annual workplace giving initiative, which began in 2011.

Child & Family Service hosted a lunchtime gathering of more than 30 local nonprofit leaders and partners in Waikīkī earlier this week to share its pilot program results of “Transition To Success,” which took place on Maui and Kauaʻi and showed statistical improvement in positive changes in the lives of its 986 participants. 

Hawaiʻi-born nonprofit Child & Family Service, in collaboration with The Parent Line, invites the public to nominate parents statewide who have shown leadership in their homes and communities.

American Savings Bank has raised $368,268 through its 2023 Kahiau Giving Campaign to support local charity organizations.

American Savings Bank’s 2022 Kahiau Giving Campaign raised $362,043, which will allow local community organizations to continue providing critical resources and services to the community.

Subaru Hawai‘i’s inaugural Love in Action campaign donated more than $50,000 in matching gifts to local nonprofits across the state: Humane Societies of Hawaiʻi, Project Vision, Mana Maoli, Hui Ho‘oleimaluō and Child & Family Service.

The CFS Marathon of Quarters aims to raise enough funds to cover the length of a marathon (26.2 miles) in quarters, equivalent to $434,563, to advance the organization’s statewide mission of strengthening families. The campaign is live through Dec. 31, 2021.

Musician and artist Paula Fuga is Subaru Hawaiʻi’s brand ambassador for its first Love in Action campaign, which plans to donate more than $50,000 to five nonprofits in Hawaiʻi.

With the alarming rise in domestic violence cases in Hawaiʻi during the COVID-19 pandemic, the nonprofit Child & Family Service is working to raise awareness on how to spot signs of domestic abuse, how to prevent tragedies and how to get help.

During its 2021 Kahiau Giving Campaign, American Savings Bank and its employees pulled together and paddled hard to donate $360,708 to local community organizations.
