No areas remain under MEMA evacuation warnings; however, some potentially high-impact areas remain under evacuation advisories out of an abundance of caution.

Evacuation advisories were issued at 10:47 a.m. today, March 22, 2026, for Kelawea Mauka III neighborhoods above the bypass in Lahaina due to potential vehicle inaccessibility from new and worsening roadway sinkholes from kona storm 2, according to Maui Emergency Management Agency. Warnings and advisories are NOT mandatory evacuation orders.

Once mandatory flood evacuation orders are lifted on the North Shore of O‘ahu, Hawaiian Electric will inspect its infrastructure to determine when it will be safe to restore power to customers affected by a proactive power shutoff due to catastrophic flooding. However, if the evacuation notice is lifted after dark, crews must wait for daylight to begin inspections.

MEMA, County Parks and Recreation and the American Red Cross will begin proactively opening shelters across Maui today. Shelters will provide cots, food, and water. Bring bedding, essential supplies and any necessary medications. Pets are allowed only if they are in crates. The length of shelter operations will depend on the severity of the weather. Additional shelter locations may open if needed.

Evacuation advisories have been issued at 9:28 a.m. today, March 20, 2026, for Wahikuli and Leialiʻi areas below Ka Laʻi Ola in Lahaina due to nearby retention basins nearing capacity, according to Maui Emergency Management Agency (MEMA). County of Maui contracted crews are actively working to redirect overflow and actively pumping water from the Lahaina basin to help keep levels safe. Warnings and advisories are NOT mandatory evacuation orders.

An evacuation warning notice has been downgraded to an advisory at 10:13 a.m. today, March 15, 2026, for Wahikuli and Leialiʻi areas below Ka Laʻi Ola in Lahaina due to the lower risk of flooding, according to Maui Emergency Management Agency.

An Upcountry shelter was opened at 7 tonight at Mayor Hannibal Tavares Community Center in Pukalani.

Both an evacuation warning and an evacuation advisory have been issued at 6 p.m. today, March 14, 2026, for Wahikuli and Leialiʻi areas below Ka Laʻi Ola in Lahaina due to fast-moving floodwaters from nearby retention basins nearing capacity, according to Maui Emergency Management Agency (MEMA). Warnings and advisories are not mandatory evacuation orders.

Evacuation orders for Kahikinui were lifted at 7 p.m. today, June 16, due to increased fire containment, according to Maui Emergency Management Agency. The fire has burned 330 acres since it first started Sunday morning, and was 93% contained as of nightfall on Monday.
