The Maui Police Department’s Traffic Division will conduct sobriety checkpoints and saturation patrols at various locations to address impaired driving over the ‘Big Game’ weekend.  The enforcement effort begins Friday, Feb. 6, 2026 and continues throughout the weekend.

Continuing through the Memorial Day holiday, the Maui Police Department’s Traffic Division will conduct sobriety checkpoints and saturation patrols. The public can expect an increased police presence, including using unmarked vehicles.

Beginning Friday, Feb. 7, 2025, and continuing through the weekend, the Maui Police Department – Traffic Division will be conducting sobriety checkpoints and saturation patrols at various locations to address impaired driving over the Big Game weekend.  

Starting today, and continuing throughout the Halloween holiday weekend, the Maui Police Department’s Traffic Division will conduct sobriety checkpoints and saturation patrols at various locations to address impaired driving over the holiday weekend.

Maui police have launched an impaired driving enforcement campaign that will continue through the holiday weekend. The departmentʻs Traffic Division will conduct sobriety checkpoints and saturation patrols at various locations as part of the effort.

Starting this Thursday, July 4, and continuing through the Fourth of July weekend, the Maui Police Department’s Traffic Division will conduct sobriety checkpoints and saturation patrols at various locations to address impaired driving over the holiday weekend.

The Maui Police Department kicked off its impaired driving enforcement campaign, which will run through the Memorial Day weekend. The MPD Traffic Division will be conducting sobriety checkpoints and saturation patrols as part of the increased enforcement effort. The public can also expect an increase in police presence utilizing unmarked vehicles. 

Starting this Thursday, May 18, 2023, and continuing through the Memorial Day holiday, the Maui Police Department’s Traffic Division will be conducting sobriety checkpoints and saturation patrols. The public can expect an increase in police presence utilizing unmarked vehicles. 

Starting today, Sept. 2, and continuing through the Labor Day holiday weekend, the Maui Police Department’s Traffic Division will be out conducting impaired driving enforcement.

The Maui Police Department launches its Fourth of July Weekend – Impaired Driving Enforcement Campaign on Friday, July 1. Enforcement will continue through the holiday weekend, with sobriety checkpoints and saturation patrols planned at various locations.

The Maui Police Department Traffic Division will conduct sobriety checkpoints and saturation patrols at various locations to address impaired driving over the St. Patrick’s Day holiday.

So far this year, there were 15 traffic fatalities on Maui County roads, up 87% compared to the eight fatalities recorded at the same time last year. Nine of the fatalities this year were alcohol, drugs, and speed related, representing 60% of all crashes.

Maui police arrested 22 individuals for Operating a Vehicle Under the Influence of an Intoxicant, and issued 81 speeding citations during holiday impaired driving enforcement over the Halloween weekend.

The Maui Police Department will step up impaired driving enforcement over the Labor Day holiday–starting Friday, Sept. 3, and continuing through the weekend.  

The Maui Police Department’s Traffic Division will conduct sobriety checkpoints and saturation patrols at various locations to address impaired driving over the upcoming holiday weekend. The added enforcement begins Friday, July 2 and continues through the Fourth of July weekend.

Maui police made 10 arrests for impaired driving, including one for suspicion of Habitual OVUII during an impaired driving enforcement effort that started on Friday and continued through Sunday.

Starting this Thursday July 2, and continuing through the Fourth of July Weekend, the Maui Police Department Traffic Division will be conducting sobriety checkpoints and saturation patrols at various locations to address impaired driving over the holiday weekend.

“Further checks revealed Kane was found to be Habitually Operating a Vehicle while Under the Influence of an Intoxicant (OVUII), a Class C Felony offense punishable by up to five years in prison,” said Lt. William Hankins, Commander of the Maui Police Department’s Traffic Division.

Maui police arrested six individuals for operating a vehicle while under the influence of an intoxicant during an increased enforcement effort targeting impaired driving over the Labor Day weekend.

Motorist can also expect to see patrols, which will include the use of unmarked patrol vehicles.
