The Maui Police Department in conjunction with the Department of Education will conduct a one-day Joint Agency Emergency Preparedness Exercise on the Kīhei Elementary School campus from approximately 7:45 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. on Friday, April 25, 2025.

Hawai‘i REALTORS has announced its 2024 Fair Housing Keiki Art Contest winners. The annual contest is designed to help children learn about fair housing. Students from Kīhei Elementary and ʻĪao Intermediate were among the winners.

Kalani High School’s science and Career and Technical Education teacher Bryan Silver has been honored as the 2025 Hawaiʻi State Teacher of the Year, the state Department of Education announced. Also honored were Maui finalists Jessie O’Neill-Prest of Kīhei Elementary School and Jaime “Kumu Eva” Palakiko of Lahainaluna High School.

Six new, public preschool classrooms will open in Maui County this fall for the 2024-2025 school year, announced Lt. Gov. Sylvia Luke and the state’s Ready Keiki Initiative on Friday. The pre-K schools enroll 20 students per classroom at no cost to parents.
