#Omaopio Road

The state Department of Transportation will be conducting road work this week that will result in lane closures at various locations. There will be no lane closures on Monday, Sept. 7 in observance of the Labor Day holiday, unless permitted Lane closure schedules may change at any time without further notice.

Goodfellow Bros. will be performing waterline improvements along Pūlehu Road. This project requires a road closure to motor vehicle traffic.

A preliminary investigation reveals that a black 2006 Honda Ruckus motorcycle was traveling northbound on Pūlehu Road when it veered off the roadway and collided with a tree.

The Hawaiʻi Department of Transportation notifies road users that work will begin on the traffic signal project at the Kula Highway and Ōmaʻopio Road intersection on Monday, Dec. 1.

Pūlehu Road is now open. It was closed overnight and into Tuesday following a motor vehicle accident that knocked down a utility pole and lines across the roadway.

More than 100 upcountry residents gathered for a community update Wednesday night, organized by the Kula Community Association.

Maui police arrested a Kula man after a motor vehicle accident reported at around 4:25 p.m. on Tuesday, June 23, in the area of Pūlehu Road and Ōmaʻopio Road.

A pavement preservation project on Pūlehu Road begins on Jan. 15. The project extends from the Central Maui Landfill to Ōmaʻopio Road Junction.

Crews from the Department of Public Works will conduct asphalt overlay work on Pūlehu Road today (Dec. 19) through Friday, Dec. 21 (7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.)

Motorists can expect traffic delays as paving continues for Pūlehu Road through Nov. 30, according to the county Department of Public Works.

Pūlehu Road in Kula is CLOSED between Holopuni and the “Y” Omaopio/Pūlehu intersection due to a brush fire. Fire crews are on scene.

Firefighters arrived on scene at 12:15 a.m. to find a 20 x 100 foot strip of grass & brush burning off the shoulder of the road at the Pūlehu/Ōmaʻopio junction.

Does the county have plans to repave Pulehu Road from the Hansen intersection to the Pulehu/Omaopio fork?

Kula and Makawao firefighters arrived on scene at 3:39 p.m., to find the brush fire burning on both sides of Pūlehu Road, about a quarter mile below the Kula Ag Park entrance.

Three vehicles that were Kahului bound lost control and skidded across the centerline as they rounded the turn. One vehicle ran head-on into another vehicle traveling in the opposite direction.

Since Hansen Road was reopened, heavy truck traffic has increased dramatically on Lower Kimo Drive and Omaopio Road.
