The County of Maui issued a final update at 5 p.m. in response to the severe weather that has impacted Maui County. The high wind and rain event resulted in multiple traffic advisories.

Kaumahina Wayside along the Hāna Highway will be closed from June 12 – June 22 for a tree removal project.

The lower playground at Nāpili Park will temporarily close from Monday, Dec. 2, to Friday, Dec. 6, 2024, while repair and renovation work is done on the park’s irrigation system, the County of Maui Department of Parks and Recreation announced.

Access to Keōpūolani Park facilities will be temporarily restricted to competition use only on the morning of Saturday, Nov. 2, 2024 to host the HHSAA State Championship event. The park will re-open for full public access at noon the same day.

Access to Keōpūolani Park facilities will be temporarily restricted to competition use Saturday morning, Aug. 31, to host a Maui Interscholastic League Cross Country event in preparation for the Hawaiʻi High School Athletic Association State Championship event in the fall, the County of Maui Department of Parks and Recreation announced.

Coach Soichi Sakamoto Pool will be closed from 9 a.m. to noon Thursday, Aug. 22, for testing of pool guard trainees. The facility will reopen from 1 to 4 p.m. that day for lap and recreational swimming.

Emergency repairs of rusted and corroded field lights has forced the closure of nearly five acres at the 110 acre Keōpūolani Regional Park in Central Maui.

Keōpūolani Park facilities, including two softball fields, a soccer field, and portions of walking paths and a parking lot, are being closed until further notice due to a structural assessment that determined some of the light towers used to illuminate the field facilities are unsafe. 

Lahaina Recreation Center playground was closed until further notice due to safety concerns over damaged playground surface, the county Department of Parks and Recreation announced today.
