Reverend Monsignor Terrence Watanabe, Pastor of Saint Anthony of Padua Church in Wailuku, announced today the closure of St. Anthony High School effective school year 2026-2027. While the high school division will cease operations, the school plans to continue serving students from preschool through eighth grade using a new multi-age classroom model.

Catholic Charities Hawai‘i, Kahului Target Store, and various first responders brought holiday cheer to Maui keiki this weekend at its third annual Target “Heroes and Helpers” event.

St. Anthony School has appointed longtime educator Mary Jean Bega as its new principal, bringing more than 30 years of classroom and leadership experience to the Wailuku campus.

Ahead of the general election on Nov. 5, hundreds of ʻōpio, kamaʻāina and first-time voters took part this week in “Walk to the Box” events in Wailuku, Honolulu and Hilo, waving signs and walking together to drop off their ballots at voting centers. The events were organized by Our Kaiāulu Votes, a coalition of schools and community organizations striving to inspire voter participation across Hawai‘i. 

The St. Anthony School has announced a 60-minute musical rendition of Disney’s 1992 film “Aladdin” at the St. Anthony Trojan Café from Wednesday, March 6 through Friday, March 15.

The St. Anthony School in Wailuku is hosting an Open House on Nov. 18, offering students and parents an opportunity to explore its historic campus, meet teachers and staff, and learn about its long-standing tradition of providing Catholic education to Maui’s youth.

St. Anthony School is postponing its “Sunday in the Shade – A Vintage Pāʻina” event. The fundraiser commemorating the school’s 175th anniversary had been planned for Oct. 1, 2023, on the school grounds. The school will announce a new date when it is determined.

Julia Golding, a teacher and performing arts director at St. Anthony School in Wailuku, was honored as the Hawaiʻi Catholic Schools Teacher of the Year.

St. Anthony School in Wailuku, Maui welcomes home its alumni for the school’s 31st Annual Hoʻolauleʻa. Graduates will be honored on Saturday, June 24, from 5-10 p.m., on Sullivan Field fronting the campus.

St. Anthony School in Wailuku will host an Open House event for families interested in learning more about the campus, which offers classes from preschool through Grade 12.

Mikaela Tirona of Baldwin High, Angie Pustelnik of St. Anthony School and Shalev Sabag of Lahaina Intermediate each took home the top prize of $1,000 in the 2021 ‘Imi Pono: The Greatest Challenge media contest.

The eight winners of the 16th annual Maui Matsuri Art Contest were unveiled, with their prized art pieces on display at the Queen Kaʻahumanu Shopping Center in Kahului.

St. Anthony School in Wailuku has started a search for a new Head of School, and has launched an Executive Transition Search Committee to ensure a smooth transition. The school has also secured Catholic search firm, Partners in Mission to guide the search.
