During Nā Kamehameha Commemorative Pāʻū Parade along Kaʻahumanu Avenue on Saturday, June 20, 2026, some Maui Buses in Kahului and Wailuku will be rerouted, and specific bus stops will not be in service between 9 to 11:45 a.m., the County of Maui Department of Transportation announced.

Waiving bus fares for Maui County employees would have a “minimal impact” on revenue received from the Maui Bus ridership, Department of Transportation Director Marc Takamori told council members Tuesday.

Maui Economic Opportunity Human Services transportation will limit its operations to dialysis and essential medical appointments for Molokaʻi, Lānaʻi, and Central, West, South, and Upcountry Maui beginning Saturday, March 21.

Microtransit is an on-demand, technology-enabled shared transportation service that uses smaller vehicles to provide flexible rides that are more responsive to passenger needs than traditional buses. The more frequent, flexible service would enhance fixed Maui Bus routes.

A portion of Vevau Street in Kahului – between Kāne and School streets – will temporarily close to public vehicular traffic from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 7, 2025, due to an electrical project at Kahului Transit Center, according to the County of Maui Department of Transportation. Maui Bus and pedestrians will still be allowed to utilize the roadway during this time.

Maui Economic Opportunity is requesting bids for one 14-passenger disability accessible electric bus with delivery by March 30, 2027.

To ensure safety and efficiency for 98th Maui County Fair participants and area motorists, the County of Maui has coordinated free shuttle services, free and paid parking areas, rideshare sites and traffic impacts for the event from Oct. 2-5, 2025, at the War Memorial Special Events Complex in Wailuku.
