Maui live fire training scheduled Nov. 10, 12, 18 and 19
The Maui Fire Department will conduct wildland live fire training on Nov. 10, 12, 18 and 19, as part of our 42nd Recruit Class. This training will be conducted in Waikapū, across from the Maui Tropical Plantation.
Update: Brush fire above Kapalua Airport burns 15 acres, 100% contained
A brush fire in the fields above Kapalua Airport burned 15 acres and was 100% contained by 7 a.m. on Tuesday. The fire was first reported in fallow agriculture lands at 12:35 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 3, 2025. Fire officials say the cause was accidental.

The public is invited to attend two events focused on Community Wildfire and Urban Interface Awareness. The events will be hosted by the Maui County Department of Fire and Public Safety, presented in collaboration with the International Association of Fire Fighters and the Wildfire Conservancy.

A structure fire in the remote area of Kahikinui along the south east slopes of Haleakalā was contained overnight at around 12:14 a.m.

An afternoon fire at a home in Kahului was deemed accidental, and was possibly related to an electric bike, according to Maui Fire Department officials.
Kahului home fire results in $125,000 in damage; good samaritan injured
One person was displaced following a structure fire at a home on Holua Drive in Kahului on Monday morning. A good samaritan was transported to the Maui Memorial Medical Center by Emergency Medical Services personnel for injuries suffered while assisting a resident out of the home, according to department reports.

The brush fire reported in Haʻikū near West Kuiaha Road and the Hāna Highway was declared extinguished as of 3:28 p.m.

The Maui Lani brush fire was declared extinguished at 11:43 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2025. Maui fire crews were called to the scene shortly before 9 p.m. in an area near the Maui Lani LDS Church.
5 residents displaced by Haʻikū structure fire; Blaze results in $270,000 in damages
Five residents were displaced by a fire at a Haʻikū home on Tuesday afternoon and were being assisted by the American Red Cross. Fire officials estimated damages from the blaze at $270,000 to the structure and its contents.

A brush fire has burned 33 acres (revised downward from an earlier estimate of 90 acres) in an area mauka of the Honoapiʻilani Highway near Kakaʻalaneo Drive in the Puʻukoliʻi area of Kāʻanapali near the old Sugar Cane Train warehouse.
