COVID-19: List of What’s Canceled, Closed or Postponed on Maui

Maui businesses, organizations and services are taking preventative measures amid growing efforts to stem the spread of the coronavirus.

Here is a running list of services, events and locations that are closed, canceled or postponed.

GENERAL

Maui County Public Facilities, closed for 30 days starting March 14.
County of Maui offices, closed to the public, starting Monday, March 23.
County parks including beach parks are closed.
Golf courses – may conduct grounds maintenance but no play.
Hawai‘i correctional facilities inmate personal visits, suspended until further notice.
Kahului Saturday swap meet, canceled beginning March 21.
Hawaiʻi State Public Library System programs and events (HSPLS), canceled beginning March 16.
The Hawaiʻi State Judiciary will limit access beginning March 16.
Maui youth centers/clubs and select Kaunoa Senior Services’ programs temporarily closed.
The Division of Motor Vehicles and Licensing (DMV) will begin restricting the amount of customers that enter its office to no more than 10 people, effective March 17.
Haleakalā National Park, closed as of March 21, includes Kīpahulu and Summit Districts.
Hawaiian Electric suspends disconnections for 30 Days.
Mayor Michael Victorino announced a number of Public Health Emergency Rules effective as of 7:45 a.m. Friday, March 20, 2020.
DLNR: All Commercial Ocean & Trail Tours Now Closed
State courthouses closed to the public, except for official court business, from March 23 to April 30, 2020.

SCHOOLS

Hawai‘i public schools closed, traditional instruction suspended through April 30. Online and instruction packets currently under development.
The University of Hawaiʻi moves classes online after spring break, effective March 23.
The Hawaiʻi Department of Education (HIDOE) is canceling all school and department-related travel to the US mainland and international destinations until the end of the 2019-2020 school year.
UH Mānoa spring admission event at King Kamehameha Golf Club, originally scheduled March 29, suspended.
Sacred Hearts School annual Bazaar, originally scheduled for April 3-4, postponed until further notice.
Kamehameha Schools (KS) campuses and preschools to begin distance learning after spring break.
HIDOE will close its offices except for essential functions effective March 19.
HIDOE employees to begin remote work on March 19.
Seabury Hall will roll out its distance learning program on April 1.
Kihei Charter School has postponed its annual Hawaiian lūʻau originally scheduled for March 28, tentatively postponed to May 2.
University of Hawai‘i commencement ceremonies canceled.

CONCERTS AND PERFORMANCES

Maui Arts & Cultural Center (MACC) has postponed all public programming until further notice.

MACC, modified operating hours, effective March 24, the box office will be open from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday until further notice.

The Queen Ka’ahumanu Center (QKC) has canceled plans to hold all community events until further notice. For individual store hours, click here.

The Shops at Wailea will be cutting its hours of operation starting Tuesday, March 18, all community events are canceled.

FAMILY EVENTS

Lahaina Restoration Foundation is closing its staffed museums and canceling its events and classes from March 16 until further notice.

Maui Ocean Center is closing its doors to the public, effective March 18 until the end of May 2020.

The Maui Family YMCA (the Y) is closing its doors effective March 20 at 8 p.m. until further notice. The Y will continue to provide limited childcare for healthcare workers, first responders and “essential” employees protecting the community.

Old Lahaina Lūʻau is temporarily closing its lūʻau event starting March 18.

The Rt. Reverend Robert L. Fiztpatrick, Diocesan Bishop of Hawaii, has extended the suspension of all public worship and gatherings for Maui’s Episcopal churches (Good Shepherd-Wailuku, Holy Innocents-Lahaina, St. John’s-Kula, and Trinity by the Sea-Kihei) through at least April 30.

51st Annual Barrio Fiesta sponsored by Binhi at Ani which was scheduled for May 22 and 23 is postponed to September 4 and 5. *Note: The Binhi at Ani Filipino Community Center in Kahului was closed as of March 16 and will remain closed until further notice.

SPORTS

Maui Interscholastic League (MIL), all interscholastic competition will be suspended indefinitely.
World Surf League (WSL), all events and levels of competition will be postponed or canceled through the end of May.
HHSAA directive places moratorium on practices effective immediately.

Food and Dining

- Lineage, dining area closed, takeout only.
- Moku Roots, pre-prepped meals and curbside delivery.
- A Saigon Café, limited dining service, to-go service only, until further notice.
- Longhi’s Wailea, takeout orders and curbside pickup available beginning March 20 by calling the restaurant, open daily for breakfast from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., lunch 11:45 a.m. to 4:45pm and dinner 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Delivery will soon be available via Door Dash.
- Honolulu Coffee, takeout only, open daily from 6:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.
- Ruth’s Chris, offering 25% off takeout orders of more than $75 when you order by calling the restaurant, offer valid through May 11.
- Walmart, adjusted hours, special kūpuna shopping hour on Tuesdays from 6 a.m. to 7 a.m., from March 24 – April 28.
- Foodland announces special shopping days and times for seniors, beginning March 19 – 31.
- Teddy’s Bigger Burgers, takeout only, normal hours, call the restaurant to place orders.
- Marco’s Grill & Deli, takeout and curbside delivery, order by calling the restaurant.
- SixtyTwo MarcKet, takeout and curbside pickup, for all menu items and “Ready to Heat” microwaveable meals.
- The Pioneer Inn, takeout service, daily from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily, order by calling the restaurant.
- Freshies in Makawao has breakfast and lunch takeout to your car, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., Tuesday to Sunday.
- FOND Maui, Napili Plaza, takeout service, daily from 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., meal subscription available Monday, March 23.
- Bad Ass Coffee of Maui, takeout service, daily from 6:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. for the Lahaina location and daily from 6:00 a.m. to 2 p.m. for the Honokowai location.
