Hawaiʻi Island police are investigating a burglary that occurred at the Merrie Monarch Festival office on Pi‘ilani Street in Hilo sometime between Sunday morning, June 18, and Monday morning, June 19, 2023. Police say unknown suspect(s) entered the establishment and removed numerous items valued at more than $2,700. One of the items removed was a distinct frame/board that contained 12 Merrie Monarch Royal Court Medals.

Federal and state officers raid antique shop, Maui man arrested on suspicion of wildlife trafficking

Maui police provide update on fatal shooting on Molokaʻi
*WARNING/GRAPHIC CONTENT: Maui police released body camera images from a deadly shooting reported Sunday on Molokaʻi. Over the course of about three minutes, officers are heard instructing the suspect over 70 times to drop a machete, and 29 times to move back. The man, later identified as 40-year-old Nathaniel Naki, was holding a two foot machete during the confrontation.

Operation Keiki Shield on Maui nets nine arrests
The joint Operation Keiki Shield 17 law enforcement operation netted nine arrests on the island of Maui over a three day effort conducted Friday April 14 through Sunday, April 16, 2023. Two of the individuals identified were non-US citizens from the mainland.
Police say the individuals were arrested on charges related to internet-facilitated sexual offenses against children. All individuasl were being held on $100,000 bail each.
