Chick-fil-A broke ground today on it’s first Hawai’i restaurant, to be located at the Puʻunēnē Shopping Center in Kahului, Maui.

A new signature oceanfront restaurant, Huihui, officially opened this week at the Kā‘anapali Beach Hotel. The completion is part of the hotel’s $75 million phase one property enhancement project.

Sheraton Maui Resort & Spa appointed two new team members to its food and beverage department – Mark Majewski as executive chef and Lanakila Graves as director of restaurants and bars. Majewski and Graves will lead operations for the resort’s multiple dining establishments, including The Sandbar, Cliff Dive Grill, Mai Tai, Teppan-yaki Dan, Coral Reef and in-room dining, as well as property catering functions and special events.

The UHMC Culinary Arts Program’s next Back Door Bake Shop is Friday, July 9 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The program’s advanced baking students have prepared a wide variety of pastries, with all proceeds going back into the UHMC Culinary Arts Program.

Peter Merriman created a customized brew called “Pete’s Island Wheat” that will be exclusively offered at select Merriman’s Hawaiʻi and Handcrafted restaurants. In partnership with Kohola Brewery, a portion of the sales will be donated to the Polynesian Voyaging Society.

Lahaina Gateway, West Maui’s largest outdoor shopping center, welcomes Maui eatery Kīhei Caffe to their tenant roster. The Lahaina Gateway location marks the first expansion for the restaurant, which opened its doors in South Maui in 1998.

Hungry Coyote, a Mexican comfort food restaurant in West Maui, announced their opening this week in Lahaina Square.

The announcement yesterday on the business’s Instagram feed spread quickly. The store opened at 10 a.m. and the line at 10:30 a.m. extended to the center court area of the Maui Mall in Kahului. About an hour later, the shop had sold out of the special flavor.

Maui Ocean Center reopens Seascape Restaurant for lunch service daily from 11 a.m. through 3 p.m. beginning on Monday, April 5. The center has also expanded park hours from 9:30 a.m. through 3:30 p.m. as of Saturday, March 20.
