Four Seasons Resort Maui hosts Molokini Kaʻapuni 2023

The Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea welcomed canoe teams from sister properties in Bora Bora and Hawaiʻi, as well as local Maui crews for an outrigger canoe paddle called “Molokini Kaʻapunui.” The cultural gathering on Saturday, March 11, was timed to celebrate the end of Makahiki season.

Bicyclist suffers critical life-threatening injuries in Honoapiʻilani crash on Maui

A 67-year-old Kīhei man suffered critical, life-threatening injuries when he was struck by a vehicle while bicycling along the Honoapiʻilani Highway on Saturday afternoon. Police say a preliminary investigation reveals the bicyclist was traveling westbound on the shoulder, made a left into the roadway where he was struck by a black 2020 Nissan Maxima sedan, which was traveling westbound.

DLNR: Yacht grounding at Honolua caused “significant damage” to live rock, coral colonies

A post-grounding damage assessment conducted by divers from the DLNR Division of Aquatic Resources, found that the yacht Nakoa caused damage to corals and reef live rock covering at least 19,434-square-feet, according to state officials.

Two men from Maui were sentenced in federal court for their racially motivated attack on a white man who was attempting to move into their neighborhood of Kahakuloa. Kaulana Alo-Kaonohi, 33, was sentenced to 6.5 years in prison; and Levi Aki Jr., 33, was sentenced to four years and two months in prison.

An unexploded ordnance, which appeared to be a mortar, was discovered by employees at a Kīhei recycling company within their metals collection area Tuesday.
