American Savings Bank joined forces with Hawaiʻi Community Lending to make a $4.3 million investment in homeownership opportunities for eligible native Hawaiians residing on Hawaiian home lands.

Maui County had the largest vacation rental supply in the state in April 2023. In comparison to pre-pandemic April 2019, ADR was higher in April 2023, but vacation rental supply, demand and occupancy were lower.

Mauiʻs Kā‘anapali Beach Hotel is being acquired by Outrigger Hospitality Group, according to a joint news release announcement.  The transaction is expected to close on July 26, at which time the property will be rebranded as OUTRIGGER Kā‘anapali Beach Resort.

Maui’s unemployment rate dipped to 2.8% in April of 2023, down from 3.4% in March. When compared to last year, Maui Island and Maui County’s unemployment rates were down from 3.2%. 

Hawaiian Airlines this afternoon gathered its guests to commemorate the inauguration of nonstop weekly flights between Honolulu and Rarotonga, Cook Islands. Hawaiian previously operated the HNL-RAR route from 1987 to 1993.

The group, 100+ Women Who Care Maui has raised more than $425,000 for local nonprofits or causes since starting in 2014. The group meets four times per year and is now raising more than $20,000 for a Maui nonprofit at each meeting.

Maui County hotels led the counties in April 2023, achieving Revenue Per Available Room of $398, and an Average Daily Rate at $609, and occupancy of 65.4%, according to the latest Hawaiʻi Hotel Performance Report released today by the Hawai‘i Tourism Authority.
