Midway through Election Day 2020, the lines have been consistently long but manageable at Maui’s Voting Service Center, located at the Velma McWayne Santos Community Center in Wailuku. It’s not too late to vote, but you must be in line by 7 pm today.

Early Voting Underway in Maui County with 27,350 Votes Already Cast for Nov. 3 Election
Election Day is less than two weeks away. And, for the first time in a general election, Hawaiʻi is using all-mail balloting. In Maui County, County Clerk Kathy Kaohu said voting is going “smoothly” so far with 27,350 of the 96,882 active registered voters (28.23 percent) already casting their ballots.

Maui County General Election Places of Deposit Open Oct. 8
“We are opening most Places of Deposit on the same day ballot packages for Maui County voters are scheduled to be mailed out,” County Clerk Kaohu said. “This means in addition to mailing their ballots back to us, voters will also be able to drop off their ballots at our designated Places of Deposit as soon as they have completed their voting.”

Recount of District 13 House Race Confirms Decoite’s Win Over Ritte
A recount of votes cast in the Primary Election race for the District 13 House seat, confirms incumbent Rep. Lynn DeCoite has defeated challenger and long-time Hawaiian Rights advocate Walter Ritte. Under the recount, DeCoite won by just 93 votes. Saturday’s tally had DeCoite ahead by just 91 votes.

Maui County Ballot Drop-Off Sites and Voter Service Centers
Maui County residents that have yet to submit their ballots for tomorrow’s Primary Election can do so at drop off locations countywide. Maui also has four voter service centers that provide accessible in-person voting, same day voter registration and collection of voted ballots.

The Democratic Party of Hawai’i has announced the cancellation of the statewide 2020 Party-Run walk-in Presidential Primary scheduled for April 4th. Due to the CDC Covid19 pre-cautions and stay-at-home requirements, on-site voting locations for Maui County have been canceled.
