Kaua‘i police arrested 36-year-old Adam Schwarze of ‘Aiea, Hawai‘i and 31-year-old Desiree Marvin of Alexandria, Virginia on Friday for violating the state’s COVID-19 mandatory 14-day quarantine emergency order, police said.

Recent COVID-19 Cases Include Church Cluster on Maui

Maui has a new cluster of COVID-19 positive cases linked to a church on Maui. Initial news of the cluster surfaced at Friday’s state press conference in which state Health Director Dr. Bruce Anderson said the cluster existed, but could not identify which island it was associated with or what church group was affected.

Maui County has 14 new cases for a total of 80 confirmed positive (yesterday’s count was adjusted upward by one by the state Department of Health following their initial noon update). Of the 80 cases in Maui County, at least 40 have been released from isolation, and 7 have required hospitalization. Of the eight deaths in the state, three are in Maui County.

Hawai‘i “Safe Travels” App Launches to Monitor Individuals Under Quarantine

The state launched a new web-based app called “Safe Travels.”  It is being rolled out as a way to monitor travelers who are subject to the 14-day quarantine in the State of Hawaiʻi. State officials say they believe the process will expedite and improve the ability of counties to conduct enforcement related to quarantine violations.
