Subaru Hawaiʻi donates $45,000 to nonprofits, relief efforts in annual event
As part of its 12th annual Share the Love Event, Subaru Hawaiʻi has donated a combined $45,000 to Maui Food Bank, Maui Humane Society and Make-A-Wish Hawaiʻi.
Two Maui teachers among 21 honored for earning professional teaching certification
A total of 21 public school teachers with the Hawai‘i State Department of Education have earned their National Board for Professional Teaching Standards certification – a recognition for meeting the highest standards for teaching. Hawaiʻi now has 789 teachers holding this designation.

General excise tax surcharge in effect for Maui County
The state legislature authorized Maui County to implement a 0.5% general excise tax surcharge that took effect Jan. 1, 2024. Revenue from the county surcharge will be used for housing infrastructure, including water, wastewater, pedestrian paths and sidewalks.
