The Hawai‘i Tourism Authority is providing $1 million to support 10 major festivals and sports events statewide through the end of the year as part of its Signature Events program. The events align with Hawai‘i’s brand, enrich Hawai‘i’s communities, create opportunities for resident-visitor interaction and attract attendees from beyond Hawai‘i.

The Lahaina Restoration Foundation invites the community to experience E Hoʻi Ka Nani I Mokuʻula (Let the Glory Return to Mokuʻula), the free 360-degree immersive film experience presented at Maui Ocean Center’s The Sphere. The next screening will take place on Friday, July 10, 2026 at 6 p.m., with doors opening at 5:30 p.m.

Hawai‘i Tourism Authority is now accepting applications to its 2026 Community Tourism Collaboratives, a set of cohort-based programs that support small businesses and nonprofits in hosting visitors while protecting cultural and natural resources and strengthening community benefits.

March visitor statistics released Thursday by the Department of Business, Economic Development and Tourism showed statewide visitor arrivals declined 1.7% in March 2026 compared to March 2025, while visitor spending declined 1.6% to $1.96 billion.

The Japanese Cultural Society of Maui will host the 24th annual Maui Matsuri across two events this month at the University of Hawaiʻi Maui College, beginning with a Children’s Festival on Saturday, followed by the Japanese Festival on May 23.

At the Kewalo site, the restoration project builds on previous efforts by DAR and partners from Kuleana Coral Restoration to save live corals after an anchor-damage event in 2024. The project also provides a new educational experience for recreational divers and operators. 

Runners and walkers from across the US and beyond took off at sunrise from staggered start lines in the Maui Marathon, half marathon, 10K and 5K races in Kāʻanapali on Sunday. The US Department of Transportation confirmed that Daniel K. Inouye Honolulu International Airport is among the 40 US airports that must reduce air traffic. The reductions will occur in phases, with a 4% reduction beginning today (Friday, Nov. 7), an 8% reduction by Thursday, Nov. 13 and the required 10% reduction by Friday, Nov. 14.
